Brioche French Toast
We never had French Toast growing up, but it's a dish my husband loves to make from time to time for the whole family. Most of the time, he uses white bread for his homemade French toast and uses a simple egg custard.
But I wanted to change things up with the type of bread and make a more fancy version: French Toast with Brioche Bread.
Brioche Bread French Toast
The richness of the brioche, with its buttery, soft texture, makes it an ideal base for soaking up the egg mixture without becoming too soggy.
Slices of brioche are dipped into a custard mixture of eggs, cream, brown sugar, and a touch of vanilla extract and cinnamon. The slices are then cooked on a hot, buttered griddle or skillet until golden brown on both sides.
The result is toasted brioche with a crisp, slightly caramelized exterior and a soft, melt-in-your-mouth interior. Add your favorite toppings to this Brioche French toast such as a sweet syrup or fresh fruit.
The combination of the rich brioche and the sweet, custardy coating makes this version of French toast especially decadent and flavorful.
What is Brioche?
Brioche is a type of French pastry bread that is rich, tender, and lightly sweet. It is made with a high proportion of eggs and butter, which gives it a soft, fluffy texture and a golden color.
Brioche is a great option for making pastries, or as a base for gourmet sandwiches and burgers. The bread has a light, airy crumb and a thin, delicate crust, making it versatile for both sweet and savory dishes. And it goes without saying that is the perfect choice for fantastic French toast.

How to Make Brioche French Toast:
- The first thing you'll do is whisk together the eggs, cream, vanilla, brown sugar, and cinnamon in a medium sized mixing bowl. Make sure the eggs are thoroughly beaten and there are not any clumps of dry cinnamon in the mixture.

Pro Tips

- If you have a brioche recipe you really like then feel free to use homemade bread instead. Make sure you cut your bread into even slices so they cook the same.
- Don’t let your brioche sit in the egg mixture for too long. Brioche is very very absorbent and this can cause it to become soggy. Only dip your fresh bread right before you put it in the pan.
Serving Suggestions
- Serve your Cinnamon Brioche French toast topped with powdered sugar and warm maple syrup. You can also serve it with whipped cream and fresh berries or even a dollop of mascarpone or whipped cream cheese.

Storage Directions
Refrigerator. If you have any leftovers they can be stored in the fridge for up to 4 days in an airtight container or tightly covered in plastic wrap.
