Pink Roses Sheet Cake

Pink Roses Sheet Cake

This is a cake fail. Or maybe not a total fail, but definitely a failure from my original plan.

It’s what happens when you plan to do roses around the outside of a sheet cake, then write “Happy Birthday…” in the middle.

But you can’t write on cake. Not with buttercream. Period.

But you try anyway.

My plan was something sort of like this Thanksgiving cake. Except I didn’t attempt to write on the Thanksgiving one.

What happened was… you made it so ugly in the center that you had to cover it up.

Except you did’t have enough of the original pink to do it, so you had to mix in some white.

But you were still supposed to write “Happy Birthday…” on it.

So you dig out the Pazzles last minute to cut out letters. To put on top. Of the two-toned roses.

Anyway.

The good news is that Mrs. Maxine loved it. And she had a very happy birthday.

And I learned my lesson.

I will not try to write with buttercream again. Ever.

If you hear me talking about writing with buttercream, please remind me that I can’t.

Here are details if you’d like to copy my “failure”.

The cake was vanilla:  Vanilla Cake Recipe.

The buttercream was good ole Vanilla Buttercream.

I used a Ateco #825 from this Large Tube Set to pipe the roses.

The color was Americolor Deep Pink.

The letters were cut from homemade marshmallow fondant.

Using a Pazzles.

The end.
