50th Wedding Anniversary Cake with Edible Gold Sequins

A quick little post about this 50th Wedding Anniversary Cake with Edible Gold Sequins. I love cakes like this… a little bling mixed with rustic. Fancy and simple at the same time.

It was 5″, 7″ and 9″ rounds – the bottom and top were rustic (obviously) and the middle was edible sequins. The cakes were baked in my favorite Magic Line Round pans.

The flavor was white almond sour cream with vanilla buttercream. Simple, classic, delicious. Now, let’s talk details…

You can find out more about how I did the sequins in this post or check out the Craftsy class. I actually airbrushed my sequins this time around and it worked great! I used Americolor Gold Amerimist color, corn syrup and these to get the effect.

For the rustic tiers, I used a 9″ offset spatula to smear the frosting on.

For the board, I covered it in gold glitter paper then wrapped it in white ribbon. Click here for my tutorial on how I cover boards with glitter paper and wrap in ribbon.

Oh and I also added a topper last minute for the client. I actually bumped into her in Hobby Lobby when she was buying it, so she sent it home with me 🙂  Every picture I took with the topper was a tiny bit blurry, but here’s the best one:

And that’s all I’ve got for you on this cake.

Happy Caking!

  1. How did you do the airbrushing gold sequins? You said you used corn syrup. Did you apply colored sequins with the corn syrup and then air brush with the gold ?

  2. Hi Rose, loving all your sequins cakes! was wondering what the jewels are the you used on the ‘pretty in pink’ cake
