I'm all about pink and these are the prettiest, simplest OREO treat I could think of for a Spring or Mother's Day treat. They're so simple and forgiving - I'd be willing to bet almost anyone could make them.
And seriously - can you go wrong with OREOs? I think not. And by using pre-made decorations, the process for decorating these is just all but fool-proof.
Easy Flower Oreo Cookies
Here's what you'll need:
- 1 (15.35 ounce) package Double Stuf Oreo Chocolate Sandwich Cookies
- 1 (12 ounce) package pink candy melts wafers
- Flower icing decorations (Pictured: Wilton Pink Petal Flowers, although you can find many varieties in the cake decorating section of your grocery or craft store)
- Leaf icing decorations (Pictured: Wilton Green Leaves )
- Waxed paper
Once you have all of your supplies together, it's time to
Start by lining a baking sheet with waxed paper. Parchment paper would work too but I prefer wax paper.
Next you're going to want to melt the pink candy coating according to package directions. If the candy is too thick to pour, add 1 teaspoon coconut oil or vegetable shortening. Stir well. Do not add water. You can add up to 1 tablespoon of coconut oil per bag of candy wafers. I have more tips for thinning candy melts here.
Then you'll dip each cookie into melted candy. Remove cookie, tapping gently against the side of the bowl, allowing excess candy to return to the bowl. If air bubbles form, pop them with a toothpick. Place the cookie onto the waxed paper. I like to use a fork to hold the cookies!
Before the candy melts begin to set, immediately press one leaf and one flower icing decoration on to each cookie:
Last, you'll just allow cookies to set completely at room temperature or refrigerate for faster results. Store in an airtight container as room temperature. See how easy that was? You're already done with the Easy Flower Oreo Cookies!
And they're soooo pretty!
If you're making them as a gift for your Mom, serve them on a pretty platter or box them up and add a bow! Small details go a long way, and I know you and/or she will love these!!
