Lollipops & Candy Cake
I’m really working hard this week to share lots of new cakes. Well, they’re actually “old” cakes – done back i 2014, but they’re “new” because I’ve never published them online. This Lollipops & Candy Cake is one of them!
Sadly, I don’t remember a lot about this cake. In my notes I have that it was a 6″ round vanilla cake with vanilla buttercream… and that’s it. Not much help, huh?
Well, I can also tell you that I covered and decorated it with homemade marshmallow fondant, because that’s what I always use for white and light colors!
I’m pretty sure I hand-rolled the ball border (or paid my daughter to – she does little jobs like that for me with cakes). The letters are Funky Alphabet Cutters and the circles were cut with small round cookie cutters.
I also made the candy on top – it’s all homemade marshmallow fondant with tylose added in so it would harden. I made the lollipops on real lollipop sticks.
For the number “3”, I cut it out of pink fondant with a 3 cutter from this Wilton set of cookie cutters then I laid it onto blue fondant and used an xacto knife to cut out a background. I glued the two together with sugar glue, then used melted chocolate to attach it to a lollipop stick after it had hardened. (both the pink and blue fondant had tylose kneaded in so they’d dry hard)
And that’s all I’ve got for ya! I did make the lollipops and candy ahead of time so they could dry, but beyond that, the cake came together pretty quickly and easily!
