A few days ago I had someone ask me about doing this Toy Story Bed Cake that I had on Facebook.

I couldn't remember what size the cake was and so I searched my blog to see if I had noted the size in my post - only to realize I never posted it here.
I had fun making this cake for sure - the hardest part was finding all the toys (in the small sizes) to go on it! I think I ended up getting several of them on eBay!
Granted, this was Christian's cake back in 2011 before RoseBakes.com actually existed, so I guess that's why 😉
Isn't he a cutie-pie? He's still that cute - he actually doesn't look any different at all, except he's probably taller! ha!
Since the size info wasn't posted, I checked my notes and now know that it was done in an 11x7" pan. My 11x7 pan is a 3" deep pan instead of 2" and if memory serves me, I baked one chocolate cake, torted it and filled it with Oreo Cream filling.
It make the cake the perfect height and perfect number of servings for his small party!
Of course I still had to have cupcakes on hand... just in case! 🙂 I put Army Men on top of a simple cupcake just for fun!
To make the wood floor on this cake, I used my wood grain mat and dark chocolate fondant. Then I made it shiny by painting it with corn syrup!
The letters were cut with the Ateco Alphabet cutters and the "5" was done with an old Wilton set that I don't think is available anymore.
I can't remember loads of other details because it was more than a year ago when I made this, but...
If you have any questions about this cake, please leave them in the comments and I’ll do my best to answer and help out!

Thank you Megan!

I assume this is fondant icing? Also where did you get the head and foot board for the cake? I need to make it for Sunday the 20th.
Susan
Hi Barbara! Yes, it's fondant. The head and foot board were made by cutting out fondant with Tylose added in (to make it harden). You could alternatively use modeling chocolate to make them.
