20+ Rainbow Cakes & Party Ideas

Hi everyone, it’s Susan, Rose’s assistant. Rainbow decorated cakes and treats are great any time of year, but they’re pretty popular with the upcoming holiday! Since St. Patrick’s Day is right around the corner, I wanted to compile some beautiful rainbows to share with you. I invited the All Things Cake group to show me their favorite rainbow creations, and I’ve chosen a few to feature plus some of my favorites found through Pinterest to show you 20+ Rainbow Cakes & Party Ideas!

I love that the colors of the rainbow can fit so many different themes from fiestas and painting to unicorns and St. Patrick’s Day! There’s lots of colorful inspiration ahead!

20+ RAINBOW CAKES & PARTY IDEAS…

Let’s start out with one of Rose’s latest creations – this Rainbow Fiesta Cake complete with cacti and colorful ribbon bunting. I just love the rainbow of ruffles! I’ve seen lots of cute llama-themed parties that this would be a perfect centerpiece for, or even for Cinco de Mayo!

And then there’s this sweet rainbow cake! It’s extra tall and so pretty with all the blended buttercream!

Next is this beautiful buttercream rainbow is so striking next to the white drip. The bright white really makes those colors pop! All Things Cake member, AlSa Azeem of AlSa’s Delicious Delight shared this beauty with us!

Unicorn Cupcakes

Y’all. I’m swooning over here looking at these gorgeous unicorn cupcakes. The unicorns themselves are perfection and the rainbow buttercream cupcakes mixed in with them complete the look. These are from another All Things Cake member, Ana Rash of Coco-Nuts.

When browsing through Pinterest the other day, these immediately caught my eye. The simple white cake pops with colorful sprinkles are pretty, but the wow comes when you take a bite and a rainbow is revealed! These are by Tastemade, and they have a video showing you just how to make them!

Raise your hand if you’re a fan of Rainbow Brite!! I have mine raised for sure. Danielle Vega of A Piece of Cake, nailed this childhood dream cake of mine for sure. Rainbows on every tier plus the board!

Next is this Trolls cake by Celia González of Sweet C’s Bakery  was a popular one on the All Things Cake post of rainbow cakes. What an amazing rainbow topper connecting two cakes! She mentioned how she made the rainbow in the comments of the post if you were wowed like me!

I absolutely adore this cake by Cake by Courtney. Those perfect buttercream rainbows elevate a simply iced cake. I’ve seen this cake in my Pinterest feed several times, and it makes me smile every time. Best part? There’s a tutorial for how she made the rainbows on her website.

Unicorn Rainbow Cake!!

Here’s a different take on a unicorn cake! This lovely pastel cake with unicorns in the clouds was submitted by Rhashida Rubio of The Artsy Cake. She had so many lovely creations on her Facebook page!

Classic Rainbows

This vivid rainbow cake immediately caught my eye! Dora Gonzalez Moreno submitted this classic rainbow in the All Things Cake group.

This Rainbow in the Clouds is a cake I did a few years ago for my daughter’s birthday. She absolutely loves rainbows. Over the years, she’s had a rainbow paint party, a rainbow candy party, a rainbow unicorn party, and this rainbow in the clouds party!

Rainbow Macarons!!

Now, this Rainbow Macaron Tower from Everyday Annie is what I want for my birthday! It’s gorgeous and I love macarons. She gives tips on how to make the macs on her website. I’ve got to give these a try really soon!

This cake makes me want a big bowl of Lucky Charms! This super cute cake is by Emily Glover of Sweet Pea Cakes. You can see more of her really pretty cakes and cupcakes on her Instagram page.

How fun are these cupcakes!? Dawn Beattie of Midnight Cakes shared these vibrant buttercream beauties in the All Things Cake group. They stood out when scrolling through the members’ beautiful submissions!

Rainbow Cookies

I just LOVE these Rainbow Heart Cookies! Eugenie Kitchen shows us step by step how to make these fantastic slice and bake sugar cookies.

My Little Pony Cake

Here’s another cake I totally would have loved as a kid! This My Little Pony cake by Kristen Welch of Just Think Cake is just precious!

Sparkly rainbow? Yes, please! Loving the topper for this cake! I don’t envy the time it took for all those fondant ruffles, but they sure are pretty! Maria Elizaincin of Be Sweet, by Maria shared this beautiful cake with us over on All Things Cake.

I love this cake from the fluffy clouds on top to the twisted streamers on bottom! Priscilla Veale of Lolo’s Cakes and Sweets made this beautiful rainbow cake.

St. Patrick’s Day Rainbow Cake

Patricia Martyres shared this awesome St. Patrick’s Day cake with us in the All Things Cake group. The isomalt rainbow caught the eye of many members! Beautiful work, Patricia!!

These two rainbow cakes combine rainbows and unicorns… a perfect union!

And last, but certainly not least is this gorgeous Happy Sunshine and Rainbow Cake! Traci Martin of The Cake Crusader executed this cake beautifully!
