I really do love this fun and simple Mickey Mouse cake.
So, here are a few details for you…
First, the bottom cake was 2 layers of 8″ round cake. The flavor on this cake was butter cake with vanilla buttercream filling and frosting. Mickey’s head was done with the Wilton Sports ball pan (or half of it 😉 ).
For the ears, I mixed lots of Tylose into some Satin Ice Black Vanilla fondant, then I rolled it out thin and used a 3″ round cutter to cut them out. I made them ahead of time then let them dry for 24-48 hours.
When I was ready to put them on, I used Tylose glue (tylose plus water to form a sticky edible glue) to “glue”craft sticks to the back of the ears. I covered them with a narrow trip of fondant and let them dry some more, then I just pushed the bottom of the sticks into the cake!
And that’s it!
