Happy Saturday morning 🙂 I have a full post in my head for my somewhat unusual week... but it hasn't made it to my fingertips yet. In the meantime, after posting these Festive Bright Cupcakes yesterday on Facebook & Instagram and seeing how much everyone loved them, I thought I'd share a quick post tonight about them!
It's funny that they got so much attention because I put very little thought into them. My customer was very non-specific - she wanted "bright, festive cupcakes" with different colored frosting.
I asked Sarah to grab me a few bright colors out of the bin and she brought me pink, green and yellow. Perfect.
My hand has been really hurting a lot lately. My sweet Sarah helped some more by getting out 3 bowls and starting to mix in the color. Unfortunately, she didn't quite mix enough pink. But when I reached for the pink to make more, I looked again at the cupcakes and thought they could use one more color.
So we did purple!
Festive Frilly Bright Cupcakes
Instead of using up another disposable bag, I put it straight into the pink bag and got this pretty, pretty pink edged look on several of the purple cupcakes! I liked that look so much that I repeated with some yellow in the green bag to get a few like this:
The Piping Tip
OH and before you ask... I used an Ateco Tip #867 from this Large Tube Set (my favorite set by far for all cupcake decorating jobs!). This is also known as a French Tip and this #869 is very similar!
So, I made 3 dozen of these pretty bright cupcakes... then 3 dozen chocolate on chocolate to go with them...
I added some pastel confetti to them to brighten them up and make them as happy as the others 😉
And that was that! I got 6 dozen cupcakes out the door and then I was able to ice my hand and rest for the rest of the day! I hope you're all planning to have a fantastic weekend!
Updated: I forgot to mention, these were white almond sour cream cupcakes with vanilla buttercream. And there were also chocolate cupcakes with chocolate buttercream! 🙂
Happy Caking!

Hello Rose,
Is there a way to swirl 3 different color icing for 1 cupcake?
Rose
Yes, I take a small icing spatula and smear the 3 colors inside the bag, up the sides.
