Mod Onesie Baby Shower Cake and Blue Candy Apples

Blue Buttercream Mod Baby Shower Cake with Onesie

This Mod Onesie Baby Shower Cake and Blue Candy Apples were for a friend of the family!

The cake was vanilla with vanilla buttercream. I was baked in an 10″ square pan.

For the mod design on the sides, I used my square cutters to cut out the different sizes, some filled in and some only outlines. I used the daisy cutters from the Wilton Gum Paste Flowers set to do the flowers.

Fondant Onesie on Baby Shower Cake

The little onesie on top was cut by hand (not as easy as I thought it would be), then I covered it in polka dots cut with frosting tips! The lettering was done with the FMM Tappit Funky Alphabet cutters…. ya’ll know I can’t write with buttercream!

Bright Blue Raspberry Candy Apples

To go along with the cake, I made blue candied apples! I first did some of these way back when I did the Dump Truck and Construction themed party! You can find the link to buy the blue candy apple mix in this post or a recipe to make any color here.

Blue Candy Apples Boxed

Since then, I’ve learned how to make candy apples in any color, and I’ve done them quite a few times! If I could just figure out how to make them not stick to the paper and also how to prevent the bubbles that randomly appear, I’d be great!

And that’s it… do you have any questions about this cake or candy apples? Leave a comment and I’ll answer and help out if I can!

  1. Everything looks so cute!! Was wondering how long can we store the candy apples, and specially if we do the apples first dipped in caramel, then in white chocolate?

Do they have to refrigerated or can they be wrapped and kept at room temp. for few days? Thank you!!! 🙂

    1. I haven’t ever done caramel apples, but personally I wouldn’t plan to do them more than 2-3 days in advance. Or do a trial run and see how long they last. I read on one site that CARAMEL apples will last a week out of the frig and 2 weeks in the frig. But CANDY apples don’t need to go in the frig at all – the candy starts to get super sticky and break down!

      1. Thank you!!!! I’ll try some out and see. I was going to wrap them up as well… so hope I can make them ahead of time 🙂
