I’ve always said writing a book was on my bucket list. But I honestly never really thought or believed it would happen. But now it has. And I could not be more thrilled and excited to share it with you!!

Sorry (not sorry) for all the exclamation (!!!) points… I’m just bouncing off the walls!!!!

Mint Green Buttercream Cake with Pink Roses
This cake is not in the book but you could totally make it with skills taught in the book!

I started this blog way back in 2012 because I wanted to help cake decorators learn to decorate cake. I wanted to share recipes and tutorials and information that (at the time) were hard to find online when I was making my first wedding cake a couple of years earlier.

White Wedding Cake with Gray Ribbon and Yellow Gerber Daisies
My first wedding cake way back in 2012 – it led to everything I’m doing now!

To my great surprise, the blog became very popular and I found myself doing a job that didn’t feel like a job at all. Every day I get to talk about, write about and work on CAKE.

It’s a sweet life, for sure.

From way back then, when I couldn’t find what I needed until now, writing a book for beginners… I feel like I’ve come full circle.

So, you may be wondering… what’s in the book?

Let me give you a little preview… Cake Decorating for Beginners includes:

  • Cake walk-through–Get advice on cake prep, the cake decorating supplies you’ll need, mixing custom colors, and troubleshooting for so many common cake issues.
  • Frosted tips–Frost like a pro with recipes for buttercream, chocolate ganache, fondant, and easy-to-follow directions on how to apply them.
  • Cherry on top–Show off your cake decorating skills with 10 scrumptious, stunning cakes–each with easy-to-follow instructions and colorful photos.

Other than sharing all of the basics that you’ll need to know, I can’t wait for you to see the TEN cake tutorials!

I give step-by-step photo tutorials for cakes that YOU can make! They’re simple enough for a beginner but elegant enough that everyone will think you’re a pro! They’re just so pretty and easy and doable for beginners!

Okay… that’s all I’ve got for you today but I promise to be sharing more over the next few weeks and from the bottom of my heart…

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

  7. Hello Rose, I have just read this book and I have been doing some decorating. I have ran into a problem that I hope you can help with. I mostly use single use pipping bags but I like the feel of the silicone bags. The silicone bags are bulging though. The icing is very thin but not thin enough to just ooze out. If I squeeze lightly towards the bottom, it comes out real fast, but if i squeeze in the middle or towards the top it bulges. What am I doing wrong? The bag is new.

    Thank you in advance.

    1. Hey there! Thank you so much for purchasing my book. So I only tried the silicone bags once and was not impressed with them. If you want reusable bags, I highly recommend the Wilton Featherweight bags. They do not bulge at all and last for a long, long time. I have had some last as long as 20 years. These are the ones I have: https://amzn.to/3lEeHNi.
