Attention home bakers... in my brand new ebook, How to Sell Paint-Your-Cookie Sets, I'm going to share everything you need to know to sell Paint-Your-Own Cookie sets and boost your income! Keep reading to find out more!
In March of 2020 when the world was shutting down because of the pandemic, I decided I needed an extra source of income because of lost cake sales and canceled parties and weddings. While brainstorming for what I could sell that wouldn't require a huge investment or a lot of time, something brought to mind paint-your-own cookies!
What are Paint-Your-Own Cookies?
If you're not familiar, these are cookies that you (as the baker), bake, cover with royal icing, then stencil with a design that your clients (or most likely, their kids) can then paint with edible paint that you include with the cookie set.
In addition to being an easy craft that kids would LOVE, I could sell these from home, have clients pick them up in a social distancing, no-contact fashion, and they didn't require a lot of extra work on my part. Best part? They're not limited to Easter!!
I ended up selling over $1200 of cookies during the week of Easter and never looked back! When I realized other bakers could probably do the same thing, I wrote a blog post about it.
Then that post became so popular, and there were so many questions... I decided to expand the post into an ebook with over 30 pages of information and pictures sharing exactly how you can duplicate what I did!
This ebook includes actual dollar amounts, word-for-word copy that you can use on social media, my recipes for cookies and icing, and free printable instruction cards you can include with your cookies.

If I can’t get it for the $9.99, I can’t afford it. I am sure lots of us have lost employment and feel the same. Thank you.

Hi Rose! I did buy the ebook and I'm glad I did - I had most of the information from your blog post but there were a few details in the e-book that were SO helpful!
So I have done all the work, posted on FB, etc. And I am amazed at the number of people that message me and say "I want 12" or "I want 4" but when I gently remind them to order through the paypal.me link, I never hear from them again. Now, I am just starting out here in this location, and I realize you had been established when you did this last year. Did you have any of those issues? I'm not concerned. It was a learning experience and it empowered me to move forward with confidence. But I think the wording on the post is clear that these are prepaid items. Just interested in your thoughts.

Man, how frustrating!! Do you know these clients? Are they personal contacts or strangers? If personal, I'd maybe create a post and say "today is the last day to get your Easter cookies pre-ordered... please send payment to xxx to guarantee your order!" and see if people bite. Beyond that, wherever you advertised, I'd still create urgency with a deadline to order and pay. If people- don't know you, that might be why they shy away from pre=paying for a product. It's a risk, but you could also pre-make 10 boxes or 20 boxes and then try to sell them as "ready for pickup, first-come, first-serve" and allow people to pay cash at pickup (just don't hold them for someone who may never show). Try to collect names if people do this so you can tag them next time and create trust among customers. Also include a business card if possible so they can call you for future orders.
