Looking back over 2024, there are a few things that stand out as our “best buys” of the year. Things I have zero regrets about - and some I wish I'd bought much, much sooner!
This list is a mix of personal things and things I use for my real-life cake business and my online business (blog).
Best Buys of 2024
- After trying to read through the whole Bible for almost 20 years (and having never finished it), The Bible Recap was finally the tool that helped me mark that item off my bucket list! I loved it so much, I'm starting over in 2025 and doing it again!
- Living Proof Perfect Hair Day Dry Shampoo is a staple for me these days. I use it weekly. I won't travel without it. I even keep a travel size in my purse! It's the best dry shampoo I've ever used and it's cruelty-free.
- These Hey Dudes were actually a purchase my husband made as a gift to me, but they are now my favorites by a long shot… so soft and pretty and comfy!
- It's no secret that I am a cute sock collector (500+ pairs and counting), but in 2024 I was introduced to Pacas socks and The World's Softest Socks and I'm officially hooked on both! If you love super soft socks - either of those brands will make you very happy!
- My ears are not normal somehow and I cannot keep wireless earbuds in my ears without dropping and losing them. My solution? These wireless earbuds with the neckband. Since they are certain to fall out of my ears - at least they don't fall to the floor!
- I've been a Popsocket user for years but a few months ago I got this mount for my truck and gaaaah - why didn't I buy one sooner? It works perfectly with my Popsocket and it's the best accessory!
- Technically I started using RankIQ in October of 2023, but I really became dedicated and used it consistently in 2024 and for the first time in 6 years, my blog traffic broke through a plateau and almost doubled! If you're a blogger and have questions, hit me up!
- This electric fondant sheeter was the single best purchase I made for my real-life cake business in 2024. It saved me countless hours rolling out fondant, and more surprisingly, rolling out cookie dough for all of the Christmas cookie orders! It was a God-send and I wish I'd bought one of these much, much sooner!
- I have always used slow cookers with my big family and I have a variety of them in different sizes and styles. But my newest one - the Ninja Foodie PossibleCookier - is my favorite by far! I love how light and versatile the cooking pot is (it can go in the oven!).
- This last one is a biggie - our biggest expenditure of the year - but one we had been saving for for ages! We live in rural Mississippi where often all it takes is a stiff wind to knock out our electricity. This is not a big deal unless I'm in the middle of baking or working on a wedding cake - then it can quickly turn into a disaster in the middle of Mississippi heat. So, last January we bought a Generac to power our whole house. I've never been more grateful than I was this past week when a tornado came within a mile or so of our house and knocked out our power for 50+ hours. The Generac brought peace of mind, access to our ovens, power for our refrigerator/freezer and so many other things!
And that's that! Happy New Year everybody - I'd love to hear what your favorite purchases of 2024 were! Leave me a comment!
