This Pink Minecraft Birthday Cake for a Girl has all the fun of Minecraft plus lots of pink to make it girly. With a pink Xbox Controller Cake topper, a creeper, TNT, a pig, and lots of pixels, its perfect for any kid who loves Minecraft.
This cake was made a few months back - before the world turned upside down. I started writing about it then and never finished, so today - I'm finishing up!
It's been ages since I shared an actual cake and for that, I'm sorry. I always want to share things that I love (which is usually cake), are relevant (to our current lives), and be helpful, especially to our businesses. And lately - that seems to be a lot of non-cakey things.
Maybe that's becuase I haven't been doing many cake orders 😞
But today... it's gonna be all about this Pink Minecraft Birthday Cake for a Girl.
First up, this cake was 5" and 7" tiers. The bottom tier had 3 layers of cake, making it extra tall. The cake was baked in Magic Line pans - my favorite!
Minecraft Cake Flavors:
- Cake Flavor: Wedding Cake
- Covered with Vanilla Buttercream
- Decorated with homemade marshmallow fondant and Satin Ice fondant for some colors (Satin Ice Green, Satin Ice Red & Satin Ice Black)
- The topper was made with rice cereal treats covered in homemade marshmallow fondant.
Now, let me share a few more details about this pink Minecraft cake, from the bottom up.
The board was decorated following this tutorial.
I used a mini square cutter to do the blocks on the tiers and the name was hand-cut using the Minecraft font as a guide. My daughter Sarah made the pig, TNT, and Creeper.
I added tylose to the Creeper to make the fondant stiff so that it would dry hard and stand up more easily. For extra support, it had a bamboo skewer through the center and anchored in the board.
The TNT was made with red Satin Ice fondant and we used a black food marker to write "TNT" over the white band.
The squares and number for the top tier was made the same as the bottom tier. I used a grass tip to pipe some grass on different parts of the cake.
The Xbox controller was made with rice cereal treats covered in homemade marshmallow fondant. I used skewers in the handles to stand it up on the cake.
And last, but not least... my client asked for some Minecraft Cupcakes to match the cake.
Minecraft Cupcakes
Sarah & I made flat toppers that we placed on top of vanilla buttercream They were all cut using square cookie cutters and decorated with smaller squares (and other shapes) either cut with mini cutters or hand-cut with a Xacto knife.
And that's all I've got for you ❤️️ I hope you're having a beautiful day!

Hey Rose, I too have those issues with my neck after years of cake decorating. Glad you are feeling better. You mentioned you used wedding cake for your cake. May I ask what you consider a wedding cake recipe? It’s hard finding a good white cake recipe. Plus you used fondant on this cake. I only use fondant on pound cake. It would be nice to know another cake that can bear the weight of fondant. I always like to hear what other decorators do. If you wouldn’t mind sharing. Cute Mine Craft cake.
Thank you,
Melanie

Sure - I use this recipe: https://rosebakes.com/white-almond-sour-cream-wedding-cake/. And I've used it underneath fondant hundreds (thousands?) of times!!
