Easter Egg Nest Cake

After finishing up my post the other night, the desire to write just started flowing. I’m so glad I made myself sit down and do it. Since then I’ve been updating old posts, pinning ideas like crazy, and just getting more and more back in “the mood” to blog. So, with Easter not too far away, I thought I’d do a quick post about this sweet little Easter Egg Nest Cake.

This is a cake that anybody can make and it’s sure to impress your guests or customers! You can seriously decorate it in 10 minutes (or less)!

How to Make an Easter Egg Nest Cake

You could make it any size, but the one I’m sharing here was as tiny 6 inch round single layer white almond sour cream cake. I baked it in my favorite Magic Line pans.

It’s covered with vanilla buttercream. I smoothed it with a bench scraper (this is my favorite one) and Viva Paper Towels. You could easily leave it rustic looking and it would be just as impressive!

After it crusted, I added the edible Easter grass and malted milk eggs. I was able to find both of those at Walmart. You can also get them on Amazon or drug stores or grocery stores with a good Easter candy selection.

Easter Egg Candy Ideas

If for some reason you can’t find the malted milk eggs or you don’t like those, there are dozens of different kinds of Easter Egg shaped candies that you could use for this cake including Easter M&M’s, jelly beans, Cadbury Mini Eggs, etc.

The cake was just so easy-peasy, but oh so pretty! Don’t you think?!

OH, and the cake stand came from Amazon  (click here).

  1. Done the same thing couple years ago. Only added a bottom edging around mine with I alittle bit of the “grass and eggs” on it here and there. Turned out super cute

  2. I just love following your fb page. I don’t bakeBut that doesn’t stop me from appreciating those that do. Some things are so spectacular and I just love looking!

  3. How far can you make your cakes in advance without getting dry? I was thinking of making them the week before then freezing to get a head start. I usually make my cakes three days before, let sit for about half a day and freeze until the day before the party to decorate. I am making a “fish” cake for my friend’s daughter’s birthday. It’s also my daughter’s best friend! I am also making all the decorations to it. This will be my first cake I make and being outside of the family! I am also nervous about transport since the event is 35 mins away at a state park for the Fishing party. I am also in Louisiana so I am worried about the heat and it melting. I use you chocolate cake and butter cream recipe and it’s always a bit hit! Soooo nervous for it to turn out good and not disappoint this little girl I have known all her life.
