Regardless of what people think, I'm not one of those Mommys or bloggers who has it all together all the time. My home and kitchen are not Pinterest-perfect and honestly, most of the time I feel like I'm just getting by.
So, on Christmas morning - we don't have an elaborate and beautiful breakfast nor do we have something fantastic or homemade. Honestly, we usually have powdered donuts from a bag (per my children's request) or even better... Pop Tarts.
But this year... we might have something slightly fancier.
I saw this idea on Pinterest (where else?) and decided to simplify it for my life. I clicked over to read the instructions/recipe from Breadworld.com and found that it was a from-scratch recipe for cinnamon rolls.
Well, that's not happening at my house on Christmas morning... or the night before Christmas... or pretty much any time within a couple of weeks of Christmas if I'm being honest. Things are just too crazy most of the time!
But cinnamon rolls from a can? I can do that! And this little easy Christmas morning breakfast won't take much longer than tearing open a bag of donuts or dropping some Pop Tarts in the toaster.
So here's how to do it. (Of course you can do the same thing with fresh homemade cinnamon rolls and it would be even more fabulous, but these canned ones work perfectly!)
First, you'll need 2 cans of cinnamon rolls, 8 rolls per can (I love Pillsbury!!) and a large cookie sheet.
Using all 16, arrange them in the shape of a Christmas tree (as seen above). Bake for approximately 15 minutes at 350°F and they come out looking like this:
You could get creative here and color the frosting green or put it in a Ziploc bag and pipe it on to be pretty... but I just smeared it on with a butter knife.
And this is what it looked like 🙂 Now here's where you can get creative. Use Christmas sprinkles. Use Christmas M&M's. Use green sugar. Use all of the above... whatever makes you happy!
I used green sparkling sugar and then some red M&M's. The kids thought it was awesome (obviously I had to do this before Christmas if I was going to share it with you, but I have more cinnamon rolls in the frig and as bad as I hate to {insert sarcasm...cough, cough}, we'll have them again on Christmas morning!
Do you think you'll try this? If not, what do you have for Christmas morning breakfast at your house? I'd love to hear about it!

Awesome idea! Especially this year with Christmas on a Sunday. We can go to church and then come home to these! Yum!
