I absolutely love fall and pumpkins! This is my second (of three) pumpkin cakes so far this season and this one is a "Happy Birthday Pumpkin Cake"... isn't that fun?
Side note... I bought that little green cake stand at a resale shop and it was one of my favorites... sadly it was broken just a few minutes after I took this picture (sniff, sniff!). Does anybody know where I could get a similar one??
Anywho, you can see the first pumpkin cake I did this year here... it was a precious Pink Pumpkin Cake with Ombre Ruffles!
The cake was baked in this Nordic Ware 3D Great Pumpkin Cake pan. I did a filling between the two layers, then crumb coated it in buttercream before covering with the orange marshmallow fondant.
I placed it on an 8" round board and trimmed it with orange ribbon.
Along with the cake I did a dozen cupcakes, also with orange vanilla buttercream! You can see how I frost cupcakes here in a video tutorial.
Here are a few more pics of the cake and cupcakes...
I also have a picture of the cake with my "photo assistant" for the day... Sarah.
I know my pictures aren't "top of the line" but I do have fun taking them and my kids always have fun "helping"...
...she's such a little nut! 🙂
If you're looking for a pumpkin cake design, be sure to scroll through all of my pumpkin cakes here and check out my favorite one here... a Pumpkin Patch Cake (on a hay bale)!
There's also a fantastic tutorial on how to make a 3-D Pumpkin Cake in Debbie Brown's book 50 Easy Party Cakes!
Have you ever made a pumpkin cake? Do you have any questions or thoughts? Leave me a comment!

How is the "happy birthday" written on this pumpkin cake?
I love the font. Didn't know if it was cut out of fondant or free hand printed.
Thank you...love all your experience and knowledge that you share.

Hey Jean! I used Tappy Funky Alphabet Letter Cutters (click to see on Amazon). I have a tutorial on using the Tappit cutters here.
