Hot Pink Hello Kitty Cake
A Hot Pink Hello Kitty Cake. Ya’ll. I’m still sharing cakes from 2014. HOW?? How in the world did I ever get so far behind on sharing cakes?
I have no explanation other than I’m just plain busy. 6 kids. Homeschooling. Laundry & dishes. Real-life cake business. Blogging… I just got behind and have accepted that I’ll never catch up.

One thing that being 2 years behind has done has made me much more selective about which cakes I choose to share. The ho-hum ones…. I skip over. The ones that are very, very similar to others I’ve posted… I skip over. The ones I just plain didn’t like… skipped too.
But this Hot Pink Hello Kitty Cake? I loved it from day 1. I’m pretty sure there was an inspiration picture sent to me but considering I did this in June of 2014 (a full 2 years ago!), I’d never be able to find that info now. If you know who did this design (or a similar one) originally – please leave me a comment!
Anywho – let me tell you about the cake! PS. I keep basic info on almost every cake I’ve done in my schedule file. Believe me… I could never remember the flavors of cakes from 2 years ago without notes!

It was 6″ and 8″ round chocolate cakes filled with Oreo Cookies & Cream Filling. I crumb coated the cake layers with vanilla buttercream, then covered and decorated the tiers with homemade marshmallow fondant. I also covered the board in the same hot pink fondant.
I used Americolor Electric Pink and Electric Green gel colors for the primary colors on the cake and found the perfectly matching ribbon at Walmart.

I used this Hello Kitty Cookie Cutter for the face on the top tier – and I used a food marker and small balls of fondant for the details. The bow on her head was done with a PME Bow Cutter.

For the name on the bottom tier, I used my favorite Funky Alphabet Tappit cutters. The polka dots were done with a small round cutter and the ribbon borders were done with this technique.
And that’s it… I think that’s everything I can easily tell you about this sweet little Hot Pink Hello Kitty Cake! Keep scrolling below for more Hello Kitty Cake inspiration!

I love Hello Kitty and I LOVE LOVE LOVE your Hello Kitty cakes!
Thank you!! xx
I have a general question regarding any of your cakes in which you use characters such as the hello kitty cake or the dr Seuss ones I saw. I’m new to this whole thing and what I quickly learned is that I need permission to use pretty much anything out there. I love your cakes and love making cakes based off of popular characters. I was wondering how you were able to get “permission” to make these beautiful cakes? I’m just feeling a little frustrated because these character cakes are a big request and not being able to do them due to legalities is decreasing my potential clients. I want to do things the right way and am in need of some advice or direction.
This is absolutely adorable!! I’ve tried the simpler cake pops before but not the actual cake. I might actually try this!
Awesome!
