This Chocolate Fudge Turtle Brownie Cake with Caramel & Walnuts is loaded with every amazing thing you dream of in a chocolate cake. Brownies. Ganache. Walnuts. Caramel. And the list goes on... this is a mouth-watering dream of a chocolate cake.
This morning I delivered this Chocolate Fudge Brownie Cake with Caramel & Nuts.... and this afternoon I snacked on the leftover brownie cubes and ganache. Yes, yes I did.
And it was so, so delicious!!
Wanna know how to make it? Here you go:
What all is in the cake?
First, I baked two layers of dark chocolate cake and added a pile of semi-sweet chocolate chips baked into the batter. I used Duncan Hines Dark Chocolate Fudge Cake mix, but adapted it like I usually do. You could easily just follow the box directions, but I always like to add a little oomph to my cakes by doing the “doctored” recipe!
So, I followed this recipe and added in ¾ cup of semi-sweet chocolate chips and then baked the two layers in 8″ round pans.
This cake was very similar to the Dark Chocolate Fudge Brownie Cake with Heath Bar Toffee Chips, Ganache & Hershey Kisses cake. But this was for a customer's husband's birthday and she told me that her husband loved brownies with lots of caramel and nuts, so I decided to make the cake similar to that one... except with caramel and nuts and well.... more brownies.
I used a boxed Betty Crocker Fudge Brownies mix to bake a layer of brownie (also in an 8″round cake pan) and then I sandwiched that in between the cake! I baked the extra batter in a 6" square pan. Then cubed it up to garnish the top of the cake.
So here's how I put it together... I put down one layer of cake, then I drizzled it slathered it with ganache, then caramel, then chopped walnuts. On top of that, I added the 8" round brownie and then more ganache, caramel, and nuts. Then I repeated the bottom layer... which included the other cake, even more ganache, caramel, and nuts.
To make it pretty on top, I cubed up tiny bites of brownie and put them around the edges. And just for kicks I drizzled on just a little more ganache and caramel. Isn't that gorgeous? Is your mouth-watering? Mine is.
Goodness... it's a good thing I make things like this for other people and don't keep whole cakes like this at my house. Because I'm pretty sure I'd have it for breakfast, lunch, and supper until it was gone. If it lasted for all three meals...
If you're a brownie lover - you should make this. Today. If not today, then definitely tomorrow, but only if you need to run to the store first!

I made this cake over the weekend for my son's birthday. It was a hit naturally. How could it be anything other then a hit with all the yummy stuff that's in it. I changed a few things however. 2 layers of brownies, one layer of cake which i split into two and used heavy whipping cream between the layers. Wow, so rich and dense. Ta die for! I called it chocolate thunder cake. I gave it to the kids to take home. No need for that cake to be in this house because we all know what happens then. 3:00 coffee and cake! Thanks for sharing the recipe.

Hello, the cake looks incredibly delicious and I will definitely try it ! . Although the recipe calls for 2 eggs only, the cake in the pictures seems like it used a lot more than that, because a 3 egg cake wouldn't have that much of a volume or am I mistaken? In addition , more eggs means more moisture and which is exactly what your cake looks like ! yum!
but will definitely try this recipe, thank you xx

Which recipe are you looking at that said only 2 eggs? The chocolate cake recipe calls for 3 eggs. You're welcome 🙂

Oh My! I'm definitely saving the post. Killer recipe. The perfect cake to linger over with a cup of tea or coffee. Omg, I’m seriously salivating as I’m writing the comment. I’m so eager to give the cake a try. I’ll probably make it for my friend’s party next weekend.
Many thanks for the utterly fab recipes! I'm so happy I came across your awesome blog a couple months ago. Looking forward to your new ideas.
