How to Make Tater Tot Casserole
This tater tot recipe is so easy to make, and it only takes a few minutes of prep to get it in the oven.
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly spray a 9×13-inch baking dish with non-stick spray.
- In a large cast iron pan, brown the ground beef and diced onions over medium heat until the beef is fully cooked and the onions are transparent (around 7-8 minutes). Drain any excess grease.
- Spread the meat mixture evenly across the bottom of the prepared 9×13 dish. Season generously with seasoned salt, or salt and black pepper.



- Arrange an even layer of tater tots over the ground beef mixture.
- In a small bowl, whisk together the condensed soup and milk until smooth. Pour this mixture evenly over the tater tots.
- Sprinkle a generous layer of shredded cheese over the top.



- Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until the casserole is bubbling at the edges and the tater tots are golden brown and crispy.

- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 small onion, diced

- 1 lb. frozen tater tots
- 1 (10.75 ounce) can cream of mushroom soup
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 1/2 cups shredded Cheddar cheese
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F.
- In a large skillet, brown the ground beef with the onions. Drain the excess fat.
- Spray a 9×13 dish with non-stick spray. Spread the ground beef mixture evenly over the bottom of the dish, then season with seasoned salt, or salt & pepper.
- Arrange the frozen tater tots evenly over the ground beef. My son lined them up perfectly – I usually do a more random covering.
- In a small bowl, whisk the soup and milk until smooth and spread over tater tot and beef layers.

Tater tot casseroles are always so much fun and a great weeknight treat for the family. Looks sooo good!
This was always a staple meal at my house when the kids were growing up. I added a can of Tomato Soup to ours for a tweak of the taste. The kids and their friends loved the change! I would mix the soups together and then stir them into the meat.
Love tater tots and your take on it makes it so delicious looking. The only problem for me, I try to eat as little possible carbs, so I will have to keep this for a special treat.
