Why This Party Punch Recipe Works

This is one of the best party punch recipes because it comes together in minutes and requires no special skills. Perfect as a last-minute addition to any party, from Super Bowl gatherings to holiday party punch, this drink features flavors that blend beautifully.

The sherbet keeps the punch cool while adding a creamy sweetness that both kids and adults love. It’s an easy recipe that works as well for baby showers as it does wedding celebrations. And if you’re making it for a baby shower, the yellow/green color is perfect for a gender-neutral party punch.

You can find these ingredients (or variations) at pretty much any local grocery store!

How to Make Punch for a Party

  1. Pour the lemonade into a clean, large punch bowl or drink dispenser.
  2. Add the 7Up and gently stir just enough to combine (you don’t want to lose all those bubbles!).
  3. Scoop the sherbet into round scoops and drop them right into the punch. They’ll float on top and make it look extra pretty.
  4. If you’re using lemon and lime slices, tuck them into any open spots on top for a fresh, colorful garnish.
  5. Serve right away and enjoy!

Pro Tips (Timing Tips)

  • Don’t make this one ahead of time. The sherbet melts, the bubbles fade, and it just doesn’t look (or taste) nearly as good.
  • For the best look and flavor, assemble it right before you’re ready to serve.
  • If you’re hosting, you can have everything chilled and ready to go, then pour, scoop, and serve in under 5 minutes. It’s the perfect last minute party punch!

Variations

  • Swap the soda: Instead of 7Up, you can use Sprite, Sierra Mist/Starry, or even ginger ale for slightly different flavors (and it’s still really good!).
  • Change up the sherbet: Pineapple sherbet is classic, but lemon, lime, or rainbow sherbet are all fun options depending on the vibe.
  • Make it a pink punch: For a girl baby shower (or any pink-themed party), use pink sherbet (strawberry or raspberry sherbet) for the prettiest color and a fruity twist combined with pink lemonade.
  • Try a different juice: lemonade, pink lemonade, or a lemonade-lime blend to give your fruit punch a slightly different flavor.
  • Pineapple Punch: If you’re using pineapple sherbet, you could also add actual pineapple juice instead of the lemonade for a tropical punch.

Garnish Ideas

  • I used a little less of the sherbet in order to give my fruit slices room to float. It still tasted amazing.
  • Add fresh fruit like pineapple chunks or berry slices for extra visual appeal.
  • If making a pink punch, add frozen raspberries and/or strawberries to float on the top.

Storage Instructions

  • If you would like to keep the extra juice, remove the foam, fruit slices, and any remaining ice cream, then pour the liquid into your leftover juice bottles.
  • It will keep in the fridge for up to 2 weeks or in the freezer for up to 3 months.

Making It an Alcoholic Drink

While this recipe is designed as non alcoholic party punch, you can easily transform it into a spiked punch for adult gatherings. Simply add:

FAQ

Can I make this pineapple punch recipe ahead of time?

No, this is best made right before serving. The sherbet will melt and the punch loses its visual appeal if made too far in advance.

How many servings does this make?

This recipe yields about 1 gallon, which serves approximately 16-20 people depending on serving size.

Can I use a drink dispenser instead of a punch bowl?

Yes, though a large punch bowl works best for displaying the floating sherbet. If using a drink dispenser, the sherbet will sink and melt faster.

What other party drinks pair well with this?

This pairs nicely with other easy recipes like lemonade, iced tea, or coffee for a complete beverage station.

Instructions

    1. Pour the lemonade into a clean, large punch bowl or drink dispenser.
    2. Add the 7Up and gently stir just enough to combine (you don’t want to lose all those bubbles!).

Notes

  • I don’t recommend making this ahead of time. Once it sits, the sherbet melts, the fizz fades, and it just doesn’t look (or taste) nearly as good. This one is best made right when you’re ready to serve it.
  • I used a little less sherbet so my lemon and lime slices had plenty of room to float. It still tasted amazing, and it looked so pretty in the bowl.
  • Use lemonade that’s already in “juice” form (not the frozen concentrate). Simply Lemonade worked perfectly for this recipe.
  • Yellow sherbet can be pineapple or lemon, and either one works great here — just grab what you can find.
  • Want to save leftovers? Scoop out the foam, fruit slices, and any remaining sherbet, then pour the punch into empty juice bottles. It will keep in the fridge for up to 2 weeks, or you can freeze it for up to 3 months.
