The thing is, this isn’t really a new drink. Coating a chilled glass with something creamy and pouring soda over it is about as old-fashioned as an ice cream soda at the drugstore counter. It’s just new for the TikTok generation.

And it really is good! That first sip mostly tastes like a cold Coke, but once you stir and scrape a little of the marshmallow off the sides, it turns into something creamy and sweet and completely different. It’s a Coke float but sweeter.

The best part is how forgiving it is. When you make marshmallow soda, you can go for more fluff, less ice, a different soda entirely… You can make it however you like it, and it’s going to be good.

How to Make Fluffy Coke

This comes together in about 3 minutes, so have your cold Coke ready before you start.

1. Using one tablespoon at a time, spread the marshmallow cream in a thin layer over the entire inside of the glass with a small spatula or the back of a spoon.
2. Then fill the glass with ice.

3. Pour the Coke over the ice until the glass is full.
4. Top with a cherry and add a straw, if desired. Serve immediately and enjoy!

Pro Tips

• Do not store this drink once it’s mixed. It doesn’t keep, so drink it immediately for the best outcome.
• The amount of marshmallow fluff and ice you add is totally up to you. More fluff and less ice? Go for it. This drink is easily adjusted.
• The actual Marshmallow Fluff brand works best for spreading. The Jet Puffed marshmallow creme is a bit more difficult to work with.
• Off-brand sodas can be used, but truly, the best taste is the name brand soda.
• A chilled glass straight out of the freezer keeps everything colder longer, and the fluff still spreads fine.
• Pour the soda over ice slowly. That fizz reacts with the marshmallow creme and climbs fast.

This is such a fun little treat all by itself, but it’s also great alongside popcorn on movie night, with a burger and fries for an at-home soda shop supper, or as a party drink for a kids’ birthday (set out a few soda flavors and let everybody build their own).
