Earlier this week I had a Mickey Mouse Cake to do and that got me to thinking about and browsing through all of my previous Mickey Mouse Cakes. This is not all of them, but if you're looking for some inspiration, I thought I'd do a little round-up to give you some Mickey Mouse Cake Ideas!
First up - this is the cake I did Wednesday! It was for a small family party and she only needed 10-15 servings. So I did a 7" tier for the bottom (2 layers of cake, ~16 servings) and while that was technically all the cake she needed, I really wanted to give it a little height, so I added a single layer of 5" round cake to the top 🙂
One thing I love about this design is it is very versatile (almost generic)... you could change up the colors, take that Mickey off the top and go with just about any theme... add a train or a butterfly or just a number (like this polka dots & stripes cake) or any character you want!
I wanted the cake to be bright and fun, but not girly for John Dale, so I did primary colors... with polka dots and bunting! For the name, I used food markers to write his name after searching for "Disney Font" with Swagbucks. It's not perfect, but not too shabby either.
Oh - and I did the plaques with these Ateco plaque cookie cutters. All the fondant was homemade marshmallow fondant except the red and black - they were Satin Ice. The cake was vanilla flavor with vanilla buttercream.
Now... I won't give that much detail for the rest of these cakes... you can just follow the links to the original posts and hopefully get all of your questions answered!
Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Cake for Olivia. This was an Icing Smiles Cake and I really wanted to go all out for Olivia! Hop over here to read how I made this cake and learn more about Icing Smiles, if you aren't familiar.
Get details about this cake Mickey Mouse cake here plus instructions for the ears and also when I first made it here I shared more info!
These are the easiest Mickey Mouse Cupcakes ever!!
Get the Mickey Mouse cutter here and they were done with Satin Ice Black fondant, but you could also use Wilton Black fondant which is easily found at Walmart these days!
This Mickey Mouse cake as actually done with a Minnie cake - for TWINS! Go see both cakes and all the cupcakes and details here.
And last, but not least - this Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Cake. It's all Mickey... like the other Mickey Mouse Club House Cake, I tried to add as many details as I could!
But as I write this post, I'm realizing I never posted this cake on my blog either.
Aaaahhhh.... too many cakes to blog about , not enough time!
For this one I'll just say what I always say... if you have questions, leave me a comment and I'll do my best to answer and help out!
So that's it... my Mickey Mouse Cake Ideas! You can go Mickey all the way - or go with a more versatile design that has just a little Mickey on top! Any thoughts? Questions? Leave me a comment!! I love to hear from readers!

Hi, i love your cakes and have been following for quite a while. My question relates to these Mickey Mouse cakes and how you get around all the licencing rules that are affecting me at the moment? Do you have a licence to do these cakes, as alot of local bakers and decorators in Sydney are getting C & D letters from Disney, so we are not doing any Disney cakes unfortunately 🙁 Aparently people are scanning the internet and "dobbing'people in to Disney, its getting ridiculous.
Rose
Oh my goodness... I wasn't aware that that was happening. I'll have to look into it and see if I'm in violation of some law!?

I just found this article today: http://blog.cakemade.com/2014/08/28/ask-the-cakelady-can-i-recreate-cartoon-characters-in-cake-without-getting-sued/
This makes me very nervous!!

Hi Rose,

Hi Rose! First, I just want to say how thankful I am for your blog. It has been so inspiring and helpful.
I was wondering if you have a post (I've looked but haven't found) about cake serving sizes. I've searched the internet and it seems so inconsistent. Is there a chart you always go by? Thank you!

I used to use the Wilton chart exclusively, and now I use the Cake Slicer App which has almost identical serving sizes. Incidentally, I also love the Cake Stacker app by the same company - it's SO awesome when you're asked to make a cake of a certain number of servings.

Hey Rose
I was wonder how you did the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse cake. The one with it cut out on the side. I've tried to find a pattern but haven't been able to.

I love the Clubhouse cake... The little clock pieces on the top tier or whatever they are called, did you use a cookie cutter or do it by hand?
Rose
I cut them by hand... and it was hard! Now you can buy cutters for them on Etsy!
