Butter Pecan Cake Mix Cookies
Anything Butter Pecan flavored makes me think of my Daddy. Butter Pecan Ice Cream is his most favorite flavor and has been for my whole life.
So if I see ice cream, a cake or cookies that are flavored Butter Pecan, I immediately think about Daddy.
These days, he watches his sugar intake pretty closely, so he rarely eats his beloved Butter Pecan, but that doesn't mean he doesn't enjoy a scoop every now and again.
Anyway... these cookies are so easy to make. Add Butter Pecan Cookies from cake mix to your holiday baking list and you will not regret it!

These delicious cookies definitely bring joy! As soon as I baked the first batch, I knew they would be a family favorite.

Ingredients
These homemade cookies only need 5 pantry ingredients!
- A box of Butter Pecan Cake Mix
- Eggs
- Oil
- Cream Cheese Frosting*
- Chopped Pecans
*This is my preferred cream cheese frosting recipe. It's very basic and so easy to pull together. You will only need 16 ounces. For simplicity, you can also use canned Cream Cheese frosting if you like, but the homemade frosting is a million times better!

How to Make Butter Pecan Cookies
- Preheat your oven to 350°F. Prepare a baking sheet with non-stick baking spray or line it with a piece of parchment paper. These cookies will stick to ungreased cookie sheets.
- Place your cake mix, eggs, and oil into a large bowl. Mix until well combined. (It makes the perfect dough.)
- Knead into a large ball.
- Break off pieces of dough and roll each into about 1-inch cookie dough ball.
- Place on a prepared cookie sheet and flatten down.
- Bake for 8 to 10 minutes or until golden brown around the edges. I like my cookies very soft, so I did 8 minutes.
- Allow the cookies to cool for at 1-2 minutes on the baking sheet, then move to a wire rack to cool completely before frosting.
- Frost the top of the cookie with cream cheese frosting and sprinkle chopped pecans (if desired!).
- Serve and Enjoy!
Mix-ins & Variations
- 1 cup white chocolate chips
- 1 cup toffee bits (for Toffee Butter Pecan Cake Mix Cookies)
- 1 cup chopped pecans (for extra crunch)
- You could also change things up by frosting these with Brown Sugar Buttercream instead of Cream Cheese Buttercream. YUMM-O!!
Serving Suggestions
These chewy pecan cookies are perfect for dessert, after-school snacks, or even Christmas cookie exchanges. I recommend serving with a glass of cold milk or a hot cup of coffee.
Storage Instructions
Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days. You can freeze them to keep for up to 3 months.

These are delicious however I used 1/2 cup real butter instead of oil!!
Patty
What did I do wrong? My dough is way too thin/soft to knead into a ball, much less, break pieces off of it.
Desperate, please help!
Rose Atwater
Oh goodness - I wish I knew how to help. 1/2 cup oil and 2 eggs is all that's added into the cake mix. It shouldn't have made it too soft.
