Easy Peach Dump Cake Recipe with Caramel
This Easy Caramel Peach Cake is a buttery, gooey Southern dessert that comes together in 5 minutes and bakes into a warm, comforting cake dripping with caramel and juicy peaches. Perfect for fall gatherings, church potlucks, or cozy nights by the fire!

Peach Dump Cake
I struggled so much with what to name this cake. Some would call it a Peach Dump Cake. Especially here in the South. Maybe even a Peach Cobbler of sorts. In the end, call it what you want, but it’s buttery and peachy and all kinds of delicious!
This time of year I feel like life slows down a little bit. The cooler weather. A fire in the fireplace. Curling up with a good book and warm dessert… it’s just my favorite! And this dessert fits in that cozy little scene perfectly!
But also… who wants to spend an hour in the kitchen baking that warm dessert? Not me.
So this recipe for peach dump cake is one of those recipes you can put together in 5 minutes flat.
It only has a few simple ingredients and it takes no special culinary skills whatsoever. Is that the best or what?
Pour all ingredients in a dish, bake, serve and enjoy! It’s really that simple. No extra steps. You don’t even need mixing bowls. And it’s a family favorite!
And when you add the caramel – this really is the best peach dump cake recipe.

Peach Cobbler Dump Cake
When I first planned this dessert, I was going to do a Caramel Apple Cake. And then I wanted to make a peach cobbler.
But I wanted something a little different. I love a dessert that screams old fashioned Southern comfort food… so I settled on the peaches. Canned peaches to be exact.
Taking from my initial idea, I couldn’t quit on the caramel. I’ve never had a combination of peaches and caramel, but let me tell you, I’m so glad I decided to give it a try!
This might be my new most favorite Fall dessert. The caramel takes it from a regular peach dump cake to an over-the-top delicious dessert.
Bring this Easy Peach Dump Cake to a big family get-together or a church potluck. Or serve it after supper with a scoop of ice cream and some extra caramel.
Tools Needed
- 9×13 baking pan or disposable cake pan
- Non-stick cooking spray
- Knife
Ingredients
Here’s what you’ll need for this simple dessert:

- Canned peaches in juice (in heavy syrup will work too, it’ll just be sweeter)
- Caramel sauce
- Yellow cake mix – just the dry mix, do not add any ingredients from the box instructions
- Salted butter – leave it cold, you don’t need melted butter
- Ground Cinnamon

Substitutions
Fresh Peaches – You can use fresh peaches instead of canned. Just peel and slice around 3 cups of peaches (6-7 medium peaches), toss them with a little bit of sugar (or even brown sugar) and lemon juice, and add about ½–¾ cup of extra liquid (like peach juice, apple juice, or water) since fresh fruit won’t contain the syrup from canned fruit. This will ensure the cake bakes up moist and flavorful with a fresh, natural peach taste. But if you want to skip all that, a peach dump cake with canned peaches in juice is just as good,
Caramel Sauce – Homemade caramel sauce or jarred sauce works for this easy recipe.
Yellow Cake Mix – We prefer yellow cake mix, but other cake mixes would work. You could use white cake mix or butter cake mix for similar flavor. For a slightly bigger flavor punch, you could even try a spice cake mix for the cake mix layer.
How to Make a Peach Dump Cake with Cake Mix
This easy dessert recipe is very similar to all dump cake recipes. You’ll just “dump” all the ingredients into a casserole dish and bake!
- Preheat your oven to 350°F and grab a 9″ x 13″ baking dish. Spray it with non-stick cooking spray.
- Then layer the ingredients one on top of the other.
- First pour each can of peaches (juice and all) into the bottom of the dish.
- Then drizzle caramel sauce over the top of the peaches.

- Next sprinkle and spread the box of cake mix over the top evenly and spread it out as needed.
- Then add pats of butter all over the top of the cake mix.

- And last – sprinkle with a dash of cinnamon (maybe a little more evenly than I did)
- Then bake the cake in the preheated oven for 50 minutes or until you get a golden brown crust.

- Once it’s done, let it cool a little, then serve… preferably with a big scoop of vanilla ice cream on top of the dump cake and some extra caramel for good measure.

Storage Directions
Refrigerator. Store leftover peach dump cake covered with plastic wrap or in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3–4 days. For best results, let it cool completely before covering.
Freezer. You can also freeze it tightly wrapped for up to 3 months; thaw in the fridge overnight before serving.
Reheating. To reheat, warm individual portions in the microwave for about 20–30 seconds, or heat the whole pan in a 300°F oven for 10–15 minutes to refresh the texture.
