How to Make Grinch Rice Krispie Treats
This is another one of my easy rice krispie treats recipes that you can put together in around 30 minutes.

- Butter or spray a 9×13-inch baking pan with stick cooking spray or line it with parchment paper or wax paper for easy removal. Set aside.
- In a large saucepan, melt butter over low heat. Add the mini marshmallows to the melted butter and stir constantly. Continue heating over medium heat or lower until the marshmallow mixture is smooth and creamy. Be careful — marshmallows can burn quickly if the heat is too high. You can also do this in a microwave using a large bowl or microwave-safe dish. See more details here.
- Remove the saucepan from heat and stir in green coloring. Add a few drops at a time until you achieve that perfect Grinchy green color. The goal is a vibrant, bright green shade that looks like it came straight out of the story of the Grinch.
- Quickly stir the cereal into the green marshmallow mixture using a buttered spatula or spoon. Fold until all the cereal is evenly coated, making sure to work while the mixture is still warm for the best texture.
- Transfer the mixture into your buttered pan. Use a greased spatula or lightly buttered hands to press the mixture down gently, keeping it even but not too compacted — you want soft, chewy cereal treats, not hard ones.
- Let the treats cool at room temperature for about 30 minutes. Once firm, loosen the edges with a spatula and turn the slab out onto a cutting board or parchment paper. Cut into squares or rectangles.
- Press Grinch hearts onto each treat to complete the look. Now you have adorable Grinch heart Rice Krispies treats ready to share!

Tips for the Best Grinch Rice Krispie Treats
- Always use fresh mini marshmallows for the best texture.
- Melt butter and marshmallows over low heat to avoid burning.
- Add the green food coloring after the marshmallows are melted but before adding the cereal.
- Use parchment paper or spray your spatula with stick cooking spray to keep the mixture from sticking.
Storage Directions
Store in an airtight container at room temperature to keep them soft for up to 3 days.

Grinch Rice Krispie Treats FAQ
These treats can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to three days. For even longer freshness, wrap each square individually.
You can often find heart sprinkles at your local craft store around Valentine’s Day, or year-round on Amazon.
No, it’s best to add the green food coloring after the marshmallows are melted but before you stir in the cereal. Otherwise, the color won’t spread evenly. If you forget to add the green gel coloring to the melted marshmallows, another option for festive rice krispie treats is to drizzle them with melted green candy melts.
You can use candy hearts or even a heart-shaped cookie cutter to cut small pieces of red fondant or candy for the same effect.

Notes
- How long can I store Grinch Rice Krispies? These Grinch treats will store up to 3 days in an airtight container at room temperature.
- Where can I find heart sprinkles? Check your local craft store or grocery store, but these came from Amazon!
- Can I put the green food coloring in after I mix in the cereal? No, I would not recommend that, as it will not incorporate well. It needs to be added after the butter and marshmallows have been melted together.
