Smoked Cream Cheese Dip

When my husband first heard about Smoked Cream Cheese, he made it his mission to smoke a brick of cream cheese the next time we smoked meat.

To make a long story short, he did it – and we loved it! I think after he got the cream cheese smoked, we topped it with some pepper jelly and it was a big hit with our family and friends.

But of course I couldn’t leave well enough alone. So I took the TikTok trendy Smoked Cream Cheese Dip and made it even better. I’d not be lying if I said this was the Best Smoked Cream Cheese Dip Recipe.

It has Tex-Mex (corn and black beans), bacon and jalapeno flavors added to really amp it up and this Smoked Cream Cheese Dip is made in the oven in a cast iron skillet. I sometimes call it a Fiest Dip recipe.

Why You’ll Love Smoked Cream Cheese Dip

Savory smoky flavor. The subtle smokiness infused into the cream cheese brings a depth that instantly upgrades this dip from ordinary to unforgettable. It’s like a cozy campfire charm wrapped in a velvety texture. The jalapenos and bacon also taste a little like jalapeño poppers and we love those!

Super easy prep. This dip takes hardly any time to put together and is baked in the oven – no Pellet Grill required. A little smoke seasoning and a good skillet and you’re good to go.

Perfect party appetizer. Whether you want to use crackers, veggies, or crispy bread, this Easy Smoked Cream Cheese pairs beautifully with it all.

Equipment Needed

Ingredients

These simple ingredients come together for an amazing dip that you will want to make again and again.

  • Cream Cheese – I recommend full-fat cream cheese for the best flavor but you could use low-fat cream cheese if you prefer.
  • Smoke Rub  – this is a type of seasoning and it may be called Smoke Rub, Smoky Rub, or Smoked Rub. Our favorite dry rub is McCormick Sweet & Smoky Rub or this Weber Smokey Brown Sugar Dry Rub but you can use your personal preference for the best smoky flavor. You could also use your favorite bbq rub but you may not get as much flavor.
  • Green Onions
  • Black Beans
  • Corn
  • Jalapenos
  • Shredded Cheddar
  • Bacon – fully cooked and crumbled, or real bacon bits
  • Dippers – Your favorite Crackers, Veggies, Chips or Bread

How to Make Smoked Cream Cheese Dip

This easy appetizer takes a couple of hours to bake at a low temperature but the prep time is only a few minutes! You

  1. Start by placing the blocks of cream cheese in the center of a large skillet. You can score each block of cream cheese with a knife if you want the smoke rub to get into the cheese better but I don’t always remember to do this.
  2. Cover the bricks of cream cheese with the smoked rub.
  3. Add the diced green onion, black beans, canned corn, and jalapeno peppers.
  4. Place in the oven at 250°F for 1 1/2 – two hours.
  5. Remove from your oven and stir.
  6. Top with shredded cheese and cooked crumbled bacon.
  7. Serve this perfect appetizer with your favorite crackers!

Pro Tip

If you don’t have a cast iron skillet, you can bake this Fiesta Dip recipe in a baking dish. Prepare the dish with cooking spray.

Variations

This savory appetizer is truly versatile – the best smoked cream cheese is the one with all of your favorite ingredients!

  • Add Heat: Add extra diced jalapeños or a dash of hot sauce for a spicy kick that pairs surprisingly well with the smoky creaminess.
  • Cheesy Twist: Use sharp cheddar cheese or smoked gouda for an extra layer of depth and melty richness.
  • Go Green: Add fresh herbs like green chiles, chopped chives, fresh cilantro, fresh dill, or parsley to brighten the dip with fresh color and flavor contrast.
  • Flavor Changes: If smoky is not your thing, use taco seasoning to amp up the Tex-Mex theme or make your own favorite rub using garlic powder, chili powder, onion powder, etc. You could also add refried beans and/or black olives to the mix. This would be a whole new spin on Taco Dip with Cream Cheese – a Fiesta Dip, if you will ☺️

Serving Suggestions

Fresh Vegetable Platter – Crisp carrots, celery sticks, cucumber slices, and bell pepper strips make a refreshing, healthy partner for the creamy dip.

Bagel Chips,Tortilla Chips or Corn Chips – any kind of sturdy, crunchy chip will go with this tasty appetizer.

Crackers and Breadsticks – Choose crisp crackers or crunchy breadsticks to provide the perfect crunchy contrast to the smooth dip texture. We love Town House FlipSides or Ritz Crackers.

Pita Chips – Warm, slightly crispy pita chips add a pleasant rustic feel that complements the dip’s rich flavor.

Grilled or Toasted Baguette Slices – Toasted slices bring a buttery crunch to contrast the super creamy cheese.

Storage & Reheating Directions

Storing: Properly stored in an airtight container or covered with plastic wrap, the dip should stay fresh for up to 5 days.

Reheating: If you have leftovers and want to reheat them, let the cream cheese sit at room temperature for about 30 minutes to remove the chill and help it heat evenly. Then place it in a 350°F oven and bake for around 10 minutes, or until warmed through. Once it’s hot and melty, it’s ready to enjoy again! You could also reheat it in the microwave.
