Cookie Monster Cinnamon Rolls Recipe
I absolutely love Cinnamon Rolls so when I heard about this Tiktok trend – I had to make them! It was really a no brainer for me. I used this traditional cinnamon rolls recipe for the dough and cream cheese icing (skipping the raspberries, of course).
The real secret is adding crushed OREO cookies to the cinnamon sugar mixture inside the dough, and the crushed OREO cookies and Chips Ahoy! cookies on top! Now you have a next level breakfast that is fun and Cookie Monster worthy.

Do I have to use blue food coloring for Cookie Monster Cinnamon Rolls?
Absolutely not. With the trend toward removing artificial dyes from our food (which I love!!), I certainly understand this question! So here are a few options:
- Less Color. If you want less food coloring in this recipe, you can add it to the icing instead of the cinnamon roll dough. You’ll still get the Sesame Street Cookie Monster blue, but in a smaller amount.
- Cookies & Cream Cinnamon Rolls – No Food Coloring! If you want all the yumminess of the delicious combo of cookies and cinnamon rolls without any artificial dyes, you can skip the food coloring altogether, and you’ll still get all the amazing flavor of Cookies and Cream Cinnamon Rolls without the artificial color.
- Go Natural. Another option would be to use a natural food coloring. Most of those will not give the same vibrant colors as artificial colors, but here are some options:
- Nutricost Blue Plant Based Food Coloring
- Watkins Food Coloring with No Artificial Dyes
- Butterfly Pea Powder
- Note: I haven’t personally used any of these natural food colors but they have great reviews!

How to Make Tiktok Viral Cookie Monster Cinnamon Rolls
Making the Cinnamon Rolls
- Add the yeast, 1 tsp of the sugar, and 1 cup of warm (not hot) milk to your stand mixer. Let sit for 5 minutes, until the mixture starts to get frothy.
- Add the butter, eggs, salt, remaining sugar, and 4 cups of flour to the stand mixer. Use the dough hook attachment to mix on medium speed. The dough should start to come together.

- Just as the dough starts to come together, add in food coloring. If it’s still sticky (to the touch or sticking to the bowl), add a few tablespoons of flour at a time and continue to mix until the dough feels smooth (but not dry).
- Dump the dough out for a minute (into your hand or on a plate) and lightly oil the mixer bowl. Put the dough back in, cover the mixer bowl with a damp paper towel or kitchen towel, and let sit for an hour.

- Combine processed Oreos, cinnamon, and brown sugar in a bowl. This will be your filling.
- When the dough is ready, roll it out on a lightly floured surface. It should be a large rectangle, around a quarter inch thick.
- Cover the top of your dough with your ½ stick of softened butter. Sprinkle your filling mixture on top and pat down gently.

- Position the dough so that the long sides of the rectangle are on the top and bottom in front of you. Roll up tightly.
- Cut about 1 inch off the ends of rolled dough and discard. The ends lack filling and this makes for even cuts
- Now, cut the remaining rolled dough into 12 equal slices.
- Grease your 9×13 baking dish and fill the bottom with the heavy cream. Place the cinnamon rolls in the heavy cream not touching each other if possible.
- Cover your baking dish for 30 minutes and allow rolls to rise once more.

- Preheat your oven to 350°F.
- Once your rolls are done rising, bake for 20 to 25 minutes, until slightly golden.

Making the Icing
- Add ⅓ cup of softened butter, powdered sugar, cream cheese and vanilla to a medium mixing bowl. Mix until well combined and smooth. If the mixture is too thick, add a splash of milk.
- When the cinnamon rolls come out of the oven, spread the cream cheese icing on the top of the cinnamon rolls. Top with crumbled Oreos, and Chips Ahoy! Chocolate Chip Cookies.
- Serve and enjoy! You will never make regular cinnamon rolls again!

Storage Instructions
Refrigerate leftover cinnamon rolls for up to 4 days. Don’t leave these at room temperature due the cream cheese icing. Reheat them for 10-15 seconds in the microwave.
