The Cookie Monster character from Sesame Street has always been one of my most favorite characters from childhood and nothing makes me smile bigger than vibrant blue ice cream with chunks of chocolate chip cookies and OREO cookies!
Why You'll Love this Cookie Monster Ice Cream Recipe
- Make it at home. You don't have to run out to the store or visit an ice cream shop to have this ice cream made for cookie lovers! Do they even make the BLue Bell Cookie Monster ice cream anymore? I actually think their blue Cookie Monster ice cream flavor was called Blue Bell Monster Cookie Dough ice cream.
- No special equipment! This is a no-churn recipe meaning you don't need an ice cream maker to put this delicious treat together.
- Lots of cookies! This cookie ice cream recipe is perfect for those cookie cravings - there are big chunks of Cookie Monster cookies in every single bite!
- It's blue!! Bright colored food is always so festive and so much fun! And if you're having a Cookie Monster party, you cannot go wrong with this bright blue color.
- The best part? It's easy: a homemade ice cream recipe with simple ingredients that you can easily grab at any grocery store.
Tools Needed
- Electric Mixer (hand mixer or stand mixer)
- Loaf pan (or bread pan)
- Parchment paper
- Ice Cream scoop
- Ice Cream cones (optional, but why would you NOT have them?)
Best Cookies for Monster Cookie Ice Cream
While I'm a diehard lover of homemade cookies, for this recipe, it's best to use crunchy (crispy) store-bought cookies; use a mix of chocolate sandwich cookie pieces and chocolate chip cookies for the ultimate cookie combo.
OREO cookies and Chips Ahoy! Cookies are my favorite cookies but you can use whichever types of cookie pieces you like!
Why? It's just not easy to get the same crunch at home as you can from store-bought cookies and you need the extra crunch to hold up in the creamy ice cream and keep them from getting soggy.
Ingredients
Except for the food coloring (and maybe even that), all of these ingredients can be found at your local grocery store or big box store.
- Heavy Whipping Cream
- Sweetened Condensed Milk
- Vanilla Extract
- Blue Food Coloring
- Chopped Chocolate Sandwich Cookies (aka OREO Cookies)
- Chopped crunchy Chocolate Chip Cookies (aka Chips Ahoy! Cookies)
- Mini White Chocolate Chips
See the recipe card below for measurements.
How to Make Cookie Monster Ice Cream
You do not need an ice cream machine for this no churn blue Cookie Monster ice cream.
- Start by beating your heavy cream until stiff peaks form in a large bowl. You can do this with a stand mixer or hand mixer.
- Next, add in your condensed milk, vanilla, blue gel food coloring, and beat on high until well combined. This is your vanilla ice cream base.
- Line your bread pan with parchment paper and pour in half of your blue ice cream batter.
- Top with your half of your chunks of OREOs and chopped chocolate chip cookies.
- Pour in your remaining blue ice cream mixture and top with your remaining chopped cookies and white chocolate chips.
- Place in the freezer overnight. Be sure to cover it with plastic wrap so it does not get freezer-burned.
- Scoop it out and serve in bowls or cones. Top with extra cookies if you like 😁and enjoy!
Variations, Add-ins, or Toppings
While this fun Monster Ice Cream is perfect as it's written, there are certainly changes you can make if you like.
- Top your blue monster ice cream with whipped cream or hot fudge to make this delicious blue ice cream even more decadent!
- Top with mini cookies or more cookie chunks if you really like the extra texture and of course... you can't get enough cookies!
- Use edible chocolate chip cookie dough in the ice cream along with the chocolate chip cookie pieces or substitute it instead. I have a recipe for edible cookie dough within this cupcake recipe.
- Mix in a cup of marshmallow fluff (in step 2) for extra creamy ice cream or a cup of peanut butter if that's the way you roll.
- Stir in mini marshmallows or nuts for another texture in your No Churn Cookie Monster ice cream!
Serving Suggestions
I love ice cream cones, so serving this in a delicious sugar cone or waffle cone is my best suggestion, but a bowl is perfect too! Then you have room to stuff in some more cookies on the side or add some of the delicious toppings listed above!
Cookie Monster Ice Cream is the perfect Cookie Monster dessert for birthday parties, or Sesame Street themed baby showers or class parties!
Storage Instructions
Store this ice cream in an airtight container in the freezer or cover tightly with plastic wrap.
