How to Make Strawberry Pancakes
These pretty, fluffy pancakes are easy to make and so perfect for the whole family. And pink pancakes are perfect for Valentine's Day!
- Start by placing your dry ingredients (flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar) in a large bowl. Whisk until combined.
- Add in your wet ingredients (strawberry milk, strawberry extract, melted butter, pink food coloring and egg) and mix until very well combined.
- Preheat your griddle or skillet to medium heat. You always want to start with a hot surface when cooking pancakes.
- Fill a piping bag with the pancake batter (it's the perfect way to make pancakes with less mess)
- Pipe batter onto a hot griddle and turn down the heat to medium-low. Low and slow is key.
- Cook until the edges are cooked through and the bubbles on top begin to pop. Then quickly flip your pancake and cook the other side, just until baked through. If you cook these until they're "golden brown", you lose some of that pretty pink color!
- Stack pancakes on a serving dish (with a little butter in between each if you prefer).
- Place frosting in the microwave until melted. About 30 seconds. Drizzle on top of the pancakes, if desired. Top with sprinkles and enjoy! The perfect pancake for Valentine’s Day. Enjoy!
Pro Tips
- Grease your skillet with melted butter or with nonstick cooking spray. It doesn't matter which you choose, just make sure the entire surface of the pan is fully coated.
Pancake Toppings
To keep this strawberry pancake recipe simple, I used melted canned frosting for the syrup but there are so many other toppings that would go great with these homemade strawberry pancakes.
Here are some alternate ideas for strawberry pancake syrup:
- Fresh strawberries (or other fresh berries) - we love pancakes with fruit.
- Homemade Strawberry Sauce (this recipe, but with strawberries) for Strawberry Syrup for pancakes
- Cream Cheese Glaze
- Fresh Whip Cream
Storage Directions
Refrigerator. Store leftovers in an airtight container or wrapped tightly I plastic wrap in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
Freezer. You can also keep leftover pancakes in the freezer for up to a month. To do this, spread out leftover pancakes in a single layer on a baking sheet and freezer for one hour. Then move to a freezer bag.
Reheating: Reheat strawberry pancakes in the microwave for 10-15 seconds each. For frozen pancakes, you may have to repeat once or twice. You can also heat frozen pancakes in the toaster.
