When you bite into a chewy cookie, you will flash back to your childhood and sweet memories with the flavor of real cotton candy!
The idea for these came from a Cotton Candy Crumbl Cookie but instead of topping a plain sugar cookie with cotton candy buttercream, I made pink and blue cookies with cotton candy flavor (buttercream optional).

How to Make Gender Reveal Cookies
This cotton candy cookies recipe is really easy and they are perfect for gender reveal cookies!
- Preheat your oven to 375℉ and line your baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Cream together the butter and sugar until soft and fluffy, then stir in the egg and extracts.
- Add all of the dry ingredients and stir until it forms a dough. Scrape down the sides of the bowl as needed to completely combine it.
- Divide the sugar cookie dough into two bowls and add a few drops of blue food coloring to one bowl of dough and a few drops of pink to the other. Stir both doughs with their own spoons to make two different colored doughs.
- Carefully fill half of your cookie scoop with one colored dough and fill the other half with the other color for each cotton candy cookie, and then place on your baking sheet 2-3 inches apart, there should not be more than 6 cookie dough balls on a tray as they do expand quite a bit. Continue making cookie dough balls like this until you run out of dough.
- Bake for 11-12 minutes and allow to cool slightly before enjoying.
Pro Tip
Want to reveal the gender of the baby with cookies? Use this cotton candy cookie recipe but add frosting! Color some vanilla frosting blue or pink for the baby's gender. Flip a cookie upside down and pipe a small amount in the center of the cookie. Then use another cookie to sandwich them together to hide the frosting in the middle of the cookie. FAQs
You will know when these are done baking when they start to golden on the bottom. 10-12 minutes should be plenty of time, leave them on the cookie sheet to finish baking for about 3-5 minutes after pulling them out of the oven as they’ll be very soft. If you try baking them past 12 minutes then the color of the cookies may start to become unsaturated, or less colorful.
Store in an airtight container for up to 4-5 days.
If you don’t have a cookie scoop then simply use a tablespoon and roll together 1 tablespoon of each color dough into a ball to place on your cookie sheets.
The cotton candy extract certainly makes these cookies taste more like cotton candy, but you can still make these cookies without it. They’ll still look like cotton candy cookies, they’ll just simply taste like vanilla cookies instead.
Yes, to make dairy free cotton candy cookies, simply use plant-based butter in place of the dairy butter to make these dairy free.
