This Valentine brownies recipe is made from a box mix and simple ingredients, which makes them easy! But by adding the butterscotch chips and the icing on top, you make these chewy brownies extra special!

How to Make Valentine’s Brownies

This brownie recipe is delicious, pretty, and easy! Here are the step-by-step instructions:

  1. Start by placing your boxed brownie mix, water, eggs, and oil into the bowl of a stand mixer or a large mixing bowl. 
  2. Mix on high until smooth (using the stand mixer or an electric hand mixer).
  3. Fill each heart shape silicone mold ¾ of the way with brownie batter. Sprinkle chips on top of each brownie and lightly press into the batter. 
  4. Bake at 325 degrees for 20 to 30 minutes, or until a toothpick or cake tester comes out clean.
  5. Remove the baked brownies from the molds onto a wire rack to cool completely.

  1. Clean out your molds. 
  2. Melt down your pink melting chocolates in the microwave in a small bowl. Melt in 45-second intervals, stirring after each until melted and smooth. 
  3. Fill each mold ¼ of the way with melted chocolate. Press a cooled brownie back into the mold on top of the chocolate. Place in the fridge for about an hour until chocolate is set. Do not try to pull out early. 
  4. Remove the chocolate covered brownies from the molds. 
  5. Pour your melted white chocolate into a pastry bag and drizzle over the top of the brownies. You can also place the melted chocolate in a Ziploc bag and snip the corner off to drizzle it.
  6. Add heart-shaped sprinkles or pink, white, and red sprinkles (or nonpareils_. 
  7. Serve and enjoy! These tasty brownies will make the perfect Valentine’s Day treat.

Variations

Prefer Homemade Brownies? Use this homemade fudgy brownies recipe to make your brownies from scratch.

No Heart Mold? The end result will be a little different, but if you don’t have the silicone mold, you could use parchment paper to line a regular pan (or spray it with nonstick spray) and bake the brownies. Then use a heart-shaped cookie cutter to cut out the brownies.

Next, instead of molding the chocolate for the top of the brownies, you’d pour the melted chocolate over the top of the heart brownies and add the sprinkles! This is a great way to make a decadent dessert without having to buy another special pan.

Serving Suggestions

These brownie hearts are perfect just as they are, but if you want to go the extra mile, you can serve them in a bowl with a scoop of vanilla ice cream

Storage Directions

Room Temperature / Refrigerator: Any leftover brownies can be stored at room temperature for 3 to 4 days in an airtight container or wrapped in plastic wrap. They’ll also keep up to a week in the refrigerator.

Freezer: Brownies can be frozen when wrapped tightly in a freezer-safe container. They will keep for up to 3 months but the quality may not be as good.
