3 Ingredient OREO Cake
This simple OREO Cake Recipe has been viral on Tiktok for a few years and for good reason. Not only is it incredibly easy to make, but it also tastes delicious.
OREO cookies are a staple in our home. My husband enjoys a few OREOs with milk several times a week for dessert. In fact, if we don't have his favorite chocolate cookies "in stock" at home, he gets kind of cranky 😉!
So of course, I had to try this recipe. I'm an experienced baker but even if you're not, this Viral Tiktok OREO cake recipe is a game-changer.
With just three simple ingredients, you'll have a cake that seems way more complicated than it is, and you'll satisfy your sweet cravings and impress your family and friends!

Why You'll Love this Simple OREO Cake Recipe
Easy - this OREO cake recipe does not require a long list of ingredients, tons of measuring, or all the bowls in your kitchen. It's truly a very easy recipe.
Only 3 Ingredients - for the cake itself, you only need minimal ingredients: OREOs, baking powder, and milk. Easy-peasy.
Versatile - this cake is delicious as it is. But you can use any variety of OREO cookies that you like to mix it up. And of course, you need to top it with something and the sky is the limit as far as frostings and/or toppings.
Delicious - this viral recipe truly reminds me of the taste of OREO Balls. My sister-in-law used to make them for the holidays all the time and they were addictive. So, this easy OREO cake tastes like OREO cake balls, but you serve it in slices!
What is this three-ingredient OREO Cake?
This viral recipe originally appeared on Tiktok as an OREO mug cake. But it has evolved into so much more. Now you can make a full-on cake the same way.
The short version is - you crumble up OREO cookies mix them with milk and baking powder, and bake them into a shockingly good cake. Then top it with something equally delicious - for me it was Cookies & Creme Candy bars and caramel sauce.
I know those may seem like odd choices, but I had a bunch of the candy bars leftover from a S'mores Charcuterie Board, and well, can you ever go wrong with caramel? I think not.
Don't want to bake? You can even pull this off in a microwave! Keep reading...
Ingredients
For the Easy OREO Cake recipe itself, you only need 3 ingredients.
- OREO Cookies (I used Birthday Cake OREO cookies)
- Baking Powder
- Milk
Tools & Equipment Needed
- Cooking Spray
- Bread Pan
Frosting and/or Toppings
Technically having frosting or toppings for this 3 ingredient OREO dessert is not necessary, but really, it is. Right? What's a cake without frosting? Or caramel? Or chocolate?
You get the idea. For the OREO cake recipe I made, I used Cookies & Creme White Chocolate Bars and Caramel Sauce.

How to Make a Simple OREO Cake Recipe
- Place the OREO cookies in a food processor* and process until the cookies are fine crumbs. Poup them in a mixing bowl.
- Add milk and baking powder to the crushed Oreos, and mix until well combined.
- Pour the OREO mixture into a well-greased bread pan. Or a bread pan lined with parchment paper.
*Note: If you don't have a food processor, you can put the cookies into a plastic bag and crush them with a rolling pin. You'll want to crush the cookies into really fine crumbs so that you end up with cake-like texture, so crush them really, really good. Otherwise, you end up with large cookie pieces in your cake.
- Bake at 375 degrees for 20 to 25 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Let the cake cool and remove from the pan.
- Lay your candy bar on top.
- Place in the microwave, just until the bars melt. Smooth the melted chocolate with a silicone spatula.
- Drizzle with caramel sauce and enjoy!
Pro Tips
Use Whole Milk: If you're aiming for a denser, richer cake, go for whole milk. This seemingly simple swap can create a decadently creamy texture that's sure to win rave reviews.
Variations
OREO Cookiess - for this 3 ingredient Oreo Cake recipe, you can use any flavor of cookies that you want. Use Original OREO Cookies or Birthday Cake OREOs. You can also make a Golden Oreo version, a Mint OREOs version, etc. You get the idea!
Microwave Version - YES, you can make this as a no-bake dessert in the microwave. Use a microwaveable cake mold (like this silicone cake pan) or microwave-safe dish and line it with parchment paper. Pour the batter into the cake mold and microwave for about 6 minutes (the cooking time may vary depending on the power of your microwave).
OREO Mug Cake - you can make this same cake in a single serving as a 3-Ingredient OREO Mug Cake by using 4 crushed OREO cookies, 2 tablespoons of milk and ¼ teaspoon of baking powder. Crush the OREOs in a mug or small microwave-safe bowl using a fork and mix in the milk and baking powder. Microwave or 45-60 seconds. Enjoy as-is or top with any of the yummy suggestions below.
Toppings for a 3 Ingredient OREO Cake
Here are just a few options for what you can put on the top of the cake:
- Caramel & White Chocolate: you can do what I did and use melted Cookies & Creme candy bars and caramel sauce as your frosting.
- Vanilla Buttercream or Cream Cheese Frosting
- Chocolate Ganache: made with chocolate chips and heavy cream. I have an easy ganache recipe here.
- Whipped Cream: the lightness of whipped cream would be delicious with this great tasting cake
- Canned Frosting or Cool Whip if you want to take the really easy route.
- Chocolate Sauce or Chocolate Syrup
Serving Suggestions
Ice Cream - if you decide to skip the toppings, serve this cake warm with a big scoop of ice cream. Vanilla ice cream would be my choice and is the best way to enjoy this amazing cake.
This easy chocolate cake would be great for a kids snack, a delicious dessert for the family or truly for any special occasions.
Storage Directions
Refrigerate: keep the cake in airtight container to keep it fresh and moist for up to 3 days.

can you use a box cake mix

You can decorate a boxed cake mix the same way - with a candy bar and caramel. But the appeal of this dessert is that you can make a cake out of crushed Oreos!
