Strawberry Salsa

While traditional salsa recipes call for ingredients like red onion, fresh cilantro, lime juice, and jalapeno peppers, this viral sensation takes a little different approach. This sweet recipe is a fun way to use fresh strawberries as a dip that can be eaten in so many ways.

The best time to make this recipe is during strawberry season, when juicy strawberries are at their peak! Whether you’re picking up berries at the farmer’s market or doing some strawberry picking at a local strawberry farm, those bright red berries are the star!

This strawberry salsa makes a great appetizer or party appetizer for any gathering. Whether you’re planning for your next summer BBQ, Memorial Day celebration, or just a casual get-together, this sweet treat is guaranteed to impress.

The sweetness of the berries, combined with the crunch of graham crackers dipped in chocolate, makes for a great way to showcase in-season berries while they’re available this time of year.

How to Make Strawberry Salsa

Making this viral strawberry salsa is incredibly simple.

  1. Add the strawberries, honey, and sugar to a bowl. Stir until well combined. Let it sit for a few minutes, then drain off any excess juice. Transfer to a serving dish. You can make this 1-2 hours in advance if you like to prep ahead.

  2. Let the chocolate harden. You can place it in the freezer for 10 to 15 minutes to speed this up.
  3. Once firm, cut the chocolate into triangles. Arrange the triangles and the chocolate-covered graham crackers around the strawberries. Serve and enjoy!

Variations

While this recipe is perfect as written, there are plenty of ways to customize it to your taste. Some people enjoy adding a little heat with a touch of jalapeno to make a spicy strawberry salsa.

Others might incorporate fresh herbs like fresh basil, fresh mint, or even fresh parsley for extra color and to brighten up the flavor.

Serving Suggestions

  • Arrange your chocolate-covered graham crackers and chocolate triangles around the serving dish with the fresh strawberry salsa in the center.
  • Wanna skip the graham crackers? Serve the strawberry salsa with cinnamon chips. I have a great recipe here.
  • Strawberry Salsa is also great to use for Strawberry Shortcakes.
  • You could also serve your strawberry salsa with savory dishes. Some options are grilled meat or grilled chicken tacos. Or keep it simple and serve the salsa with pita chips or salty tortilla chips for a sweet-and-salty combo.

Storage and Meal Prep Tips

If you find yourself with leftover strawberry salsa, don’t worry. Store it in an airtight container in the refrigerator, where it will keep its fresh flavor for 2-3 days. The chocolate-dipped graham crackers should be kept separately in an airtight container at room temperature.
