Okay... let me first confess that I am not on TikTok and rarely caught up in the latest trends. But if you're on any social media at all, it's nearly impossible to avoid TikTok videos and trends.
Enter these Viral TikTok Loaded Buffalo Cheese Fries. From what I can gather, this recipe is inspired by Chick-Fil-A sauces and something to do with their chicken nuggets? Well, I didn't include the chicken nuggets and it seems the "viral" post ended up being about fries... so here it is!
And these fries are outstanding! I can't remember where I first saw them, but man, as soon as I did, my mouth was watering. I love everything about them... fries, spicy, bacon, cheese, and ranch dressing. What's not to love?
Loaded Buffalo Cheese Fries Recipe History
I did a little research and it seems that originally, Chick-fil-A fries and/or nuggets were layered with Chik-fil-A Ranch and Buffalo sauce. Then this combo got shared (and embellished) and turned into a viral TikTok recipe. I'm not sure where the other ingredients came into play, but does it really matter?
What matters is these cheesy, spicy fries are amazing! Different flavors, different textures, different temperatures...oh-so-much deliciousness.
And guess what else? Football crowds love these so seriously make them for your NFL Sunday game-watching. Call them a great snack or a hot appetizer or whatever you wish... just enjoy!
TikTok Loaded Buffalo Cheese Fries Ingredients
There are no fancy ingredients here - many would even consider these staple ingredients. Of everything listed below, the only thing that's not regularly in my pantry is the wing sauce.
We have lots of barbecue sauce, but not wing sauce. I digress...
So here's what you'll need:
Frozen French Fries. The best option for potatoes here is good old frozen french fries. Use the crinkled ones for the very best outcome, but get a similar result with frozen waffle fries if you can find them.
Velveeta Cheese. Original Velveeta is my favorite, but you could also use the Mexican Velveeta or the Queso Blanco. Cheddar Cheese is not your friend here - Velveeta melts so easily and will give you really smooth and creamy sauce.
Wing Sauce. I like these fries spicy and HOT hot sauce, but my husband prefers milder buffalo sauce, so we usually use mild or medium wing sauce. Really, any traditional buffalo sauce will work! You'll just need a half cup buffalo sauce - whichever brand and level of spice or heat you like the best! Sweet Baby Ray's Buffalo Sauce is a popular brand in the South.
Seasonings. I keep it simple and use onion powder, sometimes garlic salt (we love Lawry's!), and seasoned salt. You could also go very basic with a heavy pinch of salt, a teaspoon of pepper, a teaspoon of onion powder, and a couple of teaspoons of garlic powder.
Green Onion. Confession... I don't really like green onion, but again, my family does. So I label it as optional. But if you like it and use it, slice it really thin.
Bacon. Use raw bacon here and I prefer the thin slices so it gets really crispy. Don't precook it, but do chop it up into small pieces.
Ranch Dressing. I highly recommend homemade ranch dressing or at least make it at home from the dry mix. If you must, you can use the bottled kind, but homemade is so, SO much better! Some recipes even switch things up and use blue cheese dressing, but I'm a purist and stick with ranch.
Equipment
This part is easy... there's so little mess and no extra dishes to wash. A lot of loaded buffalo fries are made on a baking sheet. These are different! The only thing you'll need is a baking dish 😉 Preferably the 3-quart size (like a common 9x13). And that's it - you don't even need a mixing bowl for this recipe.
Okay -maybe you will need another thing or two. A couple of knives and a cutting board for the bacon and green onions would also be helpful. But truly, that's it!

How to Make Viral TikTok Loaded Buffalo Fries
Y'all, this recipe is ridiculously easy. Like, I'm almost embarrassed to call it a "recipe." But these fries are amazingly delicious and will be a HIT for your party, so let's get started!
Start by laying your block of cheese in the center of a greased 9x13 baking dish. You could use non-stick cooking spray or even rub the inside of the dish down with butter.
Next, surround the block of cheese with frozen fries. I much prefer the crinkle-cut frozen version. Don't pack them in tight.
Pour buffalo wing sauce over the fries and cheese.
The top layer is your spices... onion powder, garlic salt, and pepper. Then sprinkle the green onions over the top. If you must. 😄
And the last thing you do before you put it in the oven to bake, is add the thin slices of raw diced bacon on top.
Now - bake the dish according to the french fry instructions. Usually ... degrees for ... minutes. Also, make sure the cheese is melted and gooey.
Lastly, drizzle with ranch dressing and dig in! Here's a video for you:
