Today I'm sharing How to Make Fondant Pig Face Cupcake Toppers. You can also see how to do sheep, cows, and chicks here: Farm Animal Cupcake Toppers Series (just scroll through all the posts!).
If you have a pig themed party, be sure to check out my Pig Smash Cake! It's easy to do and super cute!!
PS. I'd love it if you'd pin this post... just hover over the picture and the "Pin It" button appears in the upper right corner!
To do the fondant pig face cupcake toppers, you'll need the following (shown in step 1):
- Pink fondant; I used homemade marshmallow fondant
- A black and a red food marker
- Sugar Glue
- Paint brush
- Round Cookie Cutter, about 2"
- Small oval cookie cutter
- Mini teardrop shaped cutter
- Small Rolling Pin (I use the Wilton 9" fondant rolling pin)
The pictures are self-explanatory. Roll out the pink fondant and cut out 2" round circles. Then cut out the oval (for the snout) and the teardrops (for the ears). I attach them with sugar glue to the circle circle. After that, I draw on the eyes and nose holes!! That's it!
I've done other pigs but they're all pretty much the same... you can see them on the Barnyard Full of Cupcakes post (warning: old post with not-so-great pictures!) and the Barnyard Cupcakes with a Pig Smash Cake!

How far in advance do you make the cupcake toppers and do you store them in the fridge before you put them on your cupcake? This is my first time trying to make these any pointers would be appreciated. Thanks
Rose
I've made them a couple of weeks in advance and you do NOT want to refrigerate them. I actually just store them at room temperature in a air-tight container out of the sun.
Lisa
Thank you.
Linda
Do you use anything to "glue" the pieces to each other's. Also, how soon can I place them on a buttercream iced cake sheet cake ? I'm worried they will soften or bleed ?
Rose
Sure - you can use sugar glue (click for recipe) or a tiny bit of water or corn syrup.

I'm attempting to make this for my two year old"s birthday this year in June. I would love to share the outcome with you. If that is ok with you..... 🙂
Alexandria
where did you buy the cutters? Looking to make these for a bbq this weekend. Thanks 🙂
Rose Atwater
Most of them on Amazon - there are links in the post! But you should also be able to find them at a crafts store, like Michaels or Hobby Lobby.
kelly
how much fondant would I need to make 12 of these (or 24)? Thanks!
Rose Atwater
Not much - a single batch of my homemade marshmallow fondant would be plenty!
Angela
Do you have a favorite buttercream recipe? Any tutorials for the actual barn cake? Thanks. Soooo cute!!
Susan
Hi Angela, thanks for stopping by the blog! Rose's favorite buttercream is found here: http://rosebakes.com/crusting-buttercream-frosting-for-decorating/ and she talks about how she made the barn that these cupcakes accompanied here: http://rosebakes.com/a-barnyard-party-barn-cake-farm-animals-cupcakes-cakepops/

Hi, Rose.
These pigs are so cute! Did you put something between the pig face and cupcake?
Thanks.
Rose
Hey - I did pipe a small amount (like a rosette) underneath the fondant!
