Candy Corn Cookies
It's no secret that I love Candy Corn. So much so that I have a pumpkin-shaped jar on my table right now filled with candy corn (thanks to my lovely assistant Susan - brilliant and cute idea!) and I have extra candy corn in the cabinet to restock should I run out.
I mean... it's that time of year where candy corn is a staple and I love being able to grab a few candy corn pieces here and there throughout the day.
So, of course, I also have several recipes with candy corn!

Just like a few of those recipes above, these Candy Corn Swirl Cookies don't actually taste like Candy Corn and are not made with Candy Corn. They're not even the candy corn shape.
Instead, these are classic Pinwheel cookies (sugar cookies) made in the colors of Candy Corn.
Candy Corn Sugar Cookies are a great treat for a Halloween party, classroom party, dessert, or after-school snack!

How to Make Halloween Cookies
These cookies take a little extra time to make but it's so worth it for the super cute finish!
Candy Corn Sugar Cookie Dough
- In a large bowl (or the bowl of a stand mixer with a paddle attachment), cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add in two eggs and mix on medium speed until well incorporated.
- In a small bowl mix together the dry ingredients: salt baking powder and flour.
- Add flour mixture to butter mixture and mix until well incorporated.
- Section the dough into 3 equal pieces and place in the small bowls. You could use a kitchen scale if you want the portions to be precise but a close guess works just as well.
Coloring the Candy Corn Dough
- Add yellow food coloring to one dough, orange coloring to another, and leave the third remaining section of the dough without coloring.
- Mix a little bit of food coloring into each portion of dough until it’s the desired coloring.
- Shape each color of dough into a small rectangle and wrap in plastic wrap and chill for 30 minutes.
- Repeat with each color of dough.
- Once cooled, separately roll each piece of dough out into a large rectangle roughly ¼ inch thick.
- Layer sugar cookie dough layers on top of each other yellow dough first, then orange dough, and lastly white dough (or the uncolored dough), lining up the long edges.
- Cover the top with a large piece of plastic wrap and roll out to bind the colors of dough together.
- Starting with a long side, roll dough up tightly as you would cinnamon rolls, wrap with plastic wrap, and chill in the refrigerator for 45 minutes.
Bake Sugar Cookies
- Preheat the oven to 350°F while the dough chills. Also, prepare a cookie sheet with parchment paper.
- Once cooled, use a sharp knife to cut the dough in ¼ inch slices and place cookies on the prepared baking sheet. If you have any remaining dough from the ends, you can roll them out and shape them with your hand or use a cookie cutter for some shapes.
- Bake cookies for 8-10 minutes. Cookies should be lightly golden brown on the bottoms.
- Move baked cookies to a cooling rack to finish cooling and enjoy a fun Halloween treat!
Recipe Variations
Don't like candy corn colors? You change to different colors that are associated with Halloween. Divide the dough into to equal parts of another color combination: purple and green dough, purple and black dough, or orange and black dough, etc. All of those are bright colors work for the spooky holiday.
Serving Suggestions
The best way to enjoy these (as it is with all cookies) is with a tall glass of milk.
