Best Potatoes to Use

This swamp potatoes recipe works with almost any kind of potatoes. Baby red potatoes hold their shape nicely, while Yukon Golds and gold potatoes become extra creamy. Russet potatoes work too, but they tend to get extra soft and possibly even mushy during cooking.

Pro Tips

  • For extra smoky flavor, use andouille sausage instead of regular smoked sausage.
  • If you like spicier food, add more Cajun or Creole seasoning.
  • A small drizzle of olive oil can help keep everything moist if your sausage is lean.
  • This slow cooker dish pairs perfectly with cornbread or crusty bread.
